Regarding the article, “World of wonder: Elephants” (BDN, April 12).

My dad told me that after he stopped smoking in 1960, he realized how stupid cigarette commercials were. I feel exactly the same way about all the efforts I’ve seen over the decades trying to convince me that evolution is true and scientific. Bologna!

Just today was an insert in the Bangor Daily News “suggesting” that Moeritherium evolved through five other species to arrive at the two varieties of modern elephant we have today. All of the necessary intermediary transitional forms are missing. There is no proof of any species evolving to another species.

Think of the horse. Did you see drawings or models showing how the modern horse’s hoof evolved through several steps (no pun intended) from that of a three-toed ancestor? Years later after many children were mis-taught, that example was proven to be a fraud.

I was taught that Piltdown Man was fact after the man who perpetuated the hoax admitted that is was false. Yes, cigarette ads were stupid. And so is every effort to sell the evolution of the species.
