Scarborough’s Ryan Moore will drive the Braun Racing No. 38 Chevy in Saturday night’s Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 NASCAR Busch Series race at Phoenix International Raceway.
A family spokesperson verified a story in the Charlotte Observer that said Moore will replace Anthony Foyt IV, who has been released from the ride.
Foyt was 35th in the points standings after running seven of the eight races.
It is a one-race deal.
Moore ran three Busch races for Dale Earnhardt Inc. last season and he still has a driver development contract with DEI. However, he hasn’t raced for them yet this season.
His best finish in the Busch series was 13th in the Ford 300 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 19.
The 22-year-old Moore finished fifth in the Busch North Series a year ago with two wins and eight top fives in 12 races. He was involved in a postrace incident with Sean Caisse that wound up in a month-long suspension for Moore from all NASCAR competition including the Busch North tour’s last race.
