Bangor man faces OUI, other charges

A Bangor man was arrested Tuesday after police noticed a vehicle driving erratically on Summer Street.

Bangor police officer Josh Ouellette was on Summer Street going toward Washington Street when he noticed an oncoming car in his lane. He pulled to the right and passed the vehicle and pulled a U-turn to follow it. He caught up as it turned on to Main Street, traveling in the left lane.

Ouellette put his blue lights on but the car did not stop, according to reports. He put his siren on and it still did not stop. He followed the car to where it finally stopped at 40 Second Street.

The driver got out of the car and Ouellette asked him to put his hands on the roof, which he did. There was a strong smell of alcohol coming from the subject. Ouellette then identified the man as Glen Dumont, 43, of Bangor. He said that he had only had three Long Island iced teas but failed sobriety tests according to reports.

Dispatch also reported that Dumont had a warrant out for his arrest and that his license was suspended.

Dumont was taken to Bangor police department and given an Intoxilyzer test. His blood alcohol level was 0.26 percent.

Dumont was then taken to Penobscot County Jail where he was charged with operating after suspension and operating under the influence.

A Dexter resident told police there that someone had obtained her debit card information online and stolen more than $28,000. Dexter Police Chief Art Roy said Wednesday that the bank was notified but that it would be difficult to track the culprit.
