HAMPDEN – Andrew Parsons, son of David and Pam Parsons of Hampden, and grandson of Donald Parsons of Hampden and Ronald and Beulah Ames of Sebec Village, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

An award ceremony marking the occasion and attended by family, friends and fellow Scouts was held March 18 at the Hampden Goodwill Riders Snowmobile Club.

For his Eagle Scout project, Parsons, a member of Boy Scout Troop 41 of Hampden, constructed two 30-foot-long handicapped-accessible foot bridges for access to the soccer field behind the Lura Hoit Pool in Hampden. The project was for the Hampden Recreation Department. David Hardy-MD Hardy Inc. of Bangor and others donated materials for the project.

Parsons’ experience as a Scout includes attending Camp Roosevelt, hiking, canoeing and various other outdoor activities. He is a member of the Order of the Arrow and attended the national jamboree in Virginia last July. He will graduate from Hampden Academy in June and attend Eastern Maine Community College in the fall to pursue studies in civil engineering.
