SOUTH CHINA – Ian Lee smacked three doubles and drove in four runs to power the Hampden Academy Broncos to a 10-4 season-opening high school baseball victory over Erskine Academy Wednesday.
Hampden’s Harvey Shue added three singles and Patrick Stephens chipped in with a double, a single and an RBI.
Nick Cotnoir led the Eagles with a double and an RBI. Josh Acedo had a double.

At Rockland, Adam Connors smacked a two-run double as the Huskies of Pittsfield prevailed in eight innings.
Victor Quint collected three hits, a triple, double, single and plated two runs while Andrew DeBethune singled four times and scored three runs for MCI.

At Newport, senior right-hander Corey Estes allowed just one hit and no earned runs over five innings as the visiting Coyotes opened the season with a victory.
Estes struck out seven and walked one before giving way to reliever Dana Leland, who worked two scoreless innings of relief.
Estes also was one of three Old Town players with three singles, along with Jarrett Lukas and Adam Fournier.
Chris Brewer added a double and a single for Old Town, while Leland added two singles and three runs scored.
Corey Harding and Zach Leal each singled for Nokomis.

At Waldoboro, Medomak Valley scratched out two runs in the bottom of the sixth to rally for the season-opening victory.
Phil Hopkins walked and went to third on Donnie Schwab’s single. Pinch runner Alex Goldrup stole second base, then Hopkins scored the tying run on a passed ball before Goldrup scored the winning run on a fielder’s choice by Zach Pease.
Hopkins earned the win in relief of starter Tom Kennedy, who struck out five. The two combined on a four-hitter.
Tyler Miles pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts for Mount View of Thorndike.
Kyle Harvey paced the Mustangs with two singles, while Jon King hit a two-run single to highlight the Mustangs’ three-run rally in the fourth inning.

Ashley Gott knocked in three runs with two singles and a triple, and Nelly Wood had a single, double and an RBI for the Broncos.
Rachel Sigfriedt smacked a triple and Erica Malley added a double for Erskine.

At Rockland, Lydia Fortin smacked the game-winning RBI single in the ninth inning to lead Maine Central Institute past Rockland.
Jordan Kennedy struck out 15 and Jenn Kennedy added two doubles for the Huskies.
Alexandra Todd had three singles and two RBI for the Tigers. Dana Clark chipped in with an RBI double.

At Newport, Autumn Silk and Erin Knight paced a 13-hit attack with three singles each as the host Warriors opened their season with a victory.
Devon Carroll, Kayla Easler and Danielle White each chipped in with two singles for Nokomis, which took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the first.
Patrice Cianchette pitched a five-hitter for Nokomis, striking out seven and issuing just one walk.
Ashley Goodwin paced Old Town offensively with a triple, while Erin Reardon doubled.
