BLUE HILL – Ross Gallagher pitched a three-hit shutout with four strikeouts to lead George Stevens Academy past Stearns of Millinocket 10-0 Thursday in a high school baseball game shortened to six innings.

Collin Henry had a double and a single with three RBIs, while Blake Wessel had a double and a single with two RBIs. Phinneas Peake hit three singles and drove in two runs, and Lucas Marks drove in a run on two singles for the Eagles.

Travis Martin, Tyler Emerson, and D.J. Charette each had a single for the Minutemen.

At East Machias, Dan Seamans’ two-run single highlighted an eight-run rally in the first inning that lifted the Raiders to victory.

Seamans finished the five-inning game with two singles, as did teammate Tim Nicely. Joey Hunter doubled and singled for WA.

Nick Wood earned the win, scattering four hits and striking out six.

Patrick McDonald hit an RBI single in the top of the first to account for Machias’ run.

At East Machias, Kayla Wood pitched a five-inning three-hitter with 10 strikeouts as the Raiders earned the victory in a Downeast Athletic Conference season opener.

Wood also had a two-run single for WA, while Sara Rushworth and Adrianne Merritt each singled home a run.

Stephanie Whitman had two singles for Machias, and Jasmine Miller added an RBI single.

At Blue Hill, Hilary Arsenault pitched a five-hitter and hit an RBI single to lead Stearns of Millinocket by George Stevens Academy.

Deanna Michaud hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning for the Minutemen. Katie Mills had an RBI double, and Casey Freeman and Hannah Somers each had an RBI single.

Robin Rioux had two singles for the Eagles.
