BANGOR – Carolyn McAvoy had four hits and scored five runs to help Husson College sweep a softball doubleheader with University of Maine-Presque Isle 10-2 and 9-3 Thursday. The Eagles defeated the Owls 10-2 in the first game and 9-3 in the second game.

BANGOR – Carolyn McAvoy had four hits and scored five runs to help Husson College sweep a softball doubleheader with University of Maine-Presque Isle 10-2 and 9-3 Thursday.

The Eagles defeated the Owls 10-2 in the first game and 9-3 in the second game.

In the first game, Jordon Pruett had two singles and three RBIs while Sabrina Sevigny added a single with three RBIs. Nicole Manzo also drove in a run for the Eagles.

Nicole Michaud had a single and a double with a run scored for UMPI.

In the second game, Manzo hit a triple and a single with two RBIs while Sevigny also drove in a pair of runs for Husson. Pruett added a double and a single with an RBI.

Bates sweeps Colby

At Waterville, Kristin Masino allowed one run on three hits with five strikeouts to lead Bates by Colby 2-1 in the first game Thursday.

Bates defeated Colby 6-3 in the second game.

In the first game, Bates got both of its runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles by Kyla Decato and Alex Bethel.

The Mules scored one in the fourth when Kara Fagan scored on an RBI single by Tory Starr.

In the second game, Decato had three hits and scored twice for Bates. Caitlin Murphy and Leah Citrin each had two singles.

Carlie Minichino hit a two-run homerun in the first inning for Colby.

Saint Joseph’s sweeps Thomas

At Standish, Keil Martin had three hits, including a home run, with three RBIs and two runs scored to lead Saint Joseph’s by Thomas 13-2 in the first game Thursday.

Saint Joseph’s defeated Thomas 2-0 in the second game.

In the first game, Andrew Wood had two hits with two RBIs and two runs scored while Ben Muniz had a double and a single with two RBIs for the Monks.

In second game, Miles Johnson pitched a two-hit seven inning shutout with five strikeouts.
