Lynx rally by Presque Isle Pitcher Nicknair records perfect game for Brewer

LINCOLN – Bree Hanscom scored the winning run from second base on a throwing error in the seventh inning to give Mattanawcook Academy a 5-4 high school softball victory over Presque Isle Tuesday.

Hanscom had a triple, double, two runs scored, and an RBI for the Lynx. Denielle Nicastro allowed just five hits and two walks while striking out 12. Kristy Burleigh singled twice.

Katie DeLong hit a two-run double in the fifth inning for Presque Isle and Katie Moody had two singles and an RBI. Angela Norsworthy allowed six hits and one walk striking out nine.

At the Bangor High School field, the Rams rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh for their first win after the Erskine Academy Eagles of South China had taken a 4-3 lead in the top of inning.

Liz Rivera drew a walk to start the Bangor seventh and Jesse Strout and Ilyse Angst followed with back-to-back singles to load the bases. Rivera and Strout then scored on consecutive passed balls for the victory.

Amy Hackett doubled for the Rams, Angst singled twice and Emily Heath notched an RBI single.

Sara Richardson started the Erskine rally in the seventh in with a single and the Eagles then took advantage of Bangor errors to score their runs.

At Hampden, Michelle Wells and Lacey Littlefield combined to allow just two hits and four walks while striking out 11 to earn the shutout for the Broncos.

Hannah Growe singled twice for Hampden and Eva Shannon tripled. Liz Kiser and Nellie Wood each hit an RBI single.

Courtney Danforth doubled for the Bulldogs of Fairfield.

At Bucksport, Terren Hall took a perfect game into the seventh inning to help lead Bucksport past Hermon.

Hall allowed one run on two hits and no walks while striking out 13 for Bucksport. Hall also hit a two-run home run, a double, and a single.

Jamie Beers broke up the perfect game and later scored on a Cassie White single for Hermon.

Ashley Kelley and Kristen Oakes combined for 15 strikeouts.

At Bangor, Amanda Gifford hit three singles and scored three runs to lead Lee Academy to victory. The game was called after five innings due to rain.

Liz Reed doubled and scored a run for Lee.

Jenn Hutchins singled and scored a run for Bangor Christian and Brooke Hale scored two runs.

At Brewer, Megan McLain hit an RBI double and Julie Lorenz an RBI triple to lead Brewer past Nokomis of Newport.

Jordan McLain pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts and hit two singles and drove in a run while Leah Jackson added a double for the winners.

Autumn Slike and Danielle White had a single apiece for Nokomis.

At Deer Isle, Audra Eaton hit two triples and knocked in five runs to lead the Mariners past the Vikings.

Heather Brewer slapped a two-run single and Regan Lawry doubled and singled for the winners.

Brittany Frisbee doubled, singled and knocked in three runs to lead Searsport. Monica Josephson singled twice and drove in a pair and Amiee Neilsen added three singles.

At Brewer, Jimmy Nicknair pitched a perfect game to lead Brewer to its first win. The game was called after the fifth inning due to rain.

Nicknair posted eight strikeouts while not walking a batter as his defense played errorless ball.

Caleb Smith doubled and singled to drive in a run for Brewer and Ricky Adams had an RBI double. Corey Cushing and Shun Sasaki each had two singles and an RBI and Evan Economy doubled and singled.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Ian Edwards singled home two runs as Bangor shut out Erskine Academy of South China.

Shane Walton hit two singles and drove in a pair of runs for the Rams, while Scott Hackett doubled and singled.

Edwards, Kyle Leeman and Tyson Barron combined to pitch a five-inning one-hitter.

At Milo, Zach Morrill hit a solo home run in the first inning and later singled to help lead Penquis to victory.

Shane Tracy doubled and singled with an RBI for Piscataquis of Guilford and Roy Burdin hit a two-run double.

Tim Kenerson singled twice and scored a run while Brian Perry doubled, singled and scored for Hermon.

At Lincoln, Derreck Belanger’s RBI double capped a three-run seventh to lift Presque Isle to the win.

Matt McGlinn doubled and singled twice and knocked in a run while Cassidy Bennett knocked two singles and drove in a run.

Jason Murchison led the Lynx with a triple, double and three RBIs. Tyson Tash added a double, triple and RBI and Jake Smith a double, single and RBI.
