Brew-ha-ha

Sometimes, the perfect pairing starts with the perfect pint. Such is the case at The Edge Oceanfront Dining in Lincolnville, which will hold a four-course Andrew’s Brewing Beer Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4. Andy Hazen of Andrew’s will be on hand to discuss his brews, which will be served with each course. In addition, each dish will be prepared using one of Andrew’s four brews or an element thereof, such as hops, malt or barley. The dinner costs $50 per person. For information or reservations, which are required, call 236-4430.

Spectacular spuds

Calling all gardeners: If you’d like to add intrigue to your potato patch, try Wood Prairie Farm’s Organic Potato Blossom Festival. The Bridgewater-based farm’s collection of gourmet potato varieties was chosen for its beautiful, fragrant blossoms in shades of blue, lavender, purple, pink and white. At harvest time, the variety continues with a rainbow of unusual potatoes: Red Cloud, Carola, Cranberry Red, All-Blue, Onaway and Butte. All are Maine double-certified organic. The collection, which will provide enough to fill a 4-by-4-foot bed, costs $19.95 and is available online at www.woodprairie.com or by calling (800) 829-9765.
