Savage single in 7th lifts Katahdin past Fort Fairfield

STACYVILLE – Casey Savage hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to drive in Jared Anderson from third base and give Katahdin a 5-4 high school baseball victory over Fort Fairfield.

Patrick Willett hit a solo home run, a triple and a single for the Cougars. Owen Wilson hit an RBI single and James Zabierk tied the game on a bases-loaded walk in the sixth.

Robert McNamee hit two singles for Fort Fairfield. Bradley Dillon hit an RBI single and Austin Dufour doubled.

At Ashland, Zach Stubbs hit a three-run double to cap a nine-run sixth inning and lead Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook past Ashland.

Stubbs also hit two singles for the Warriors. Josh Branscombe had a double and two singles and Evan Boutilier singled and drove in three runs.

Jeremy Tarr had 12 strikeouts for the Hornets. Trevor Tompkins hit three singles and knocked in two runs and Carl Nemer singled twice.

At Mars Hill, Erick Martinez, Manny Martinez and Sam Clockedile combined to pitch a no-hitter and lead Central Aroostook past Greater Houlton Christian Academy.

Manny Martinez singled three times and drove in a run for the Panthers. Andrew York had two doubles and three RBIs and Erick Martinez hit a double and two singles with two RBIs.

Drew Farrar walked twice for Greater Houlton Christian.

At Houlton, pitcher Hunter Caron hit three singles and drove in four runs to lead Houlton by Madawaska.

Mike Cleary had a double with an RBI while Harry Austin and Aaron Fitzpatrick each hit a RBI single for the Shiretowners.

Billy Roy had a double for Madawaska.

At Limestone, Tim Devaney hit an RBI double in the ninth inning and Joe Soucy followed with a two-run triple to lead Fort Kent past Limestone.

Joe Soucy hit two triples for the Warriors and Devaney had two doubles. Bud Soucy doubled.

Andrew Kirchner doubled and singled to drive in four runs for Limestone and Danny Hayes tripled and doubled with three RBIs. Dustin Morgan and Gabe Hrynick each singled twice.

Randy Thibeault doubled twice, singled and drove in a run for Wisdom.

At Skowhegan, Matt Morin hit a triple and knocked in three runs to lead the Indians to the win.

Mike LaCasse had two singles and two runs scored for Skowhegan. Jason Dore singled twice and Les Marcue doubled.

Ian Lee hit a double and three singles for Hampden Academy and Dan MacLean doubled and singled.

At Stacyville, the Cougars rallied for six runs in the seventh inning to edge the Tigers.

Brooke Smallwood picked up a complete-game victory on the mound and had a double and single to lead Katahdin.

Brittany Landry hit three singles for the Cougars. Chelsea Bates, Kayla Stevens and Jasmine Pelletier each singled twice.

Maryl Harris, Ruth Arato, Whitney Searles and Lynn Beckwith each singled twice for Fort Fairfield.

At Ashland, Whitney Flint took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and allowed just two hits and four walks while striking out four to lead Ashland to the shutout win.

Danielle Long hit two doubles and two singles with an RBI for the Hornets and Melissa Cray had two singles and two RBIs. Flint singled twice to knock in a run.

Brittany Charette singled in the sixth inning to break up the no-hitter for Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook and Jordan Sholler singled in the seventh.

At Washburn, Chelsie Paradis and Nicole St. Pierre each rapped a double and two singles to power the Pioneers to victory over the Beavers.

Kayla Daigle doubled and singled, while Amanda Haskins and Heather Albert posted two singles each to back St. Pierre, who scattered two hits and struck out six.

Amy Reed hit a solo home run for Washburn and Kelsee McLaughlin doubled.

At Houlton, Kristen Graham had a two-run double and an RBI single to spark a nine-run third inning for Houlton as it defeated Madawaska.

Graham added a three-run home run in the fifth and totaled six RBIs for the game. Lainey Herring added a home run and two RBIs while Nikki Eastman added two singles for the Shiretowners.

Eastman had 10 strikeouts and one walk for Houlton.

Andrea K. Cyr had two singles for Madawaska.

At Limestone, Emily O’Neal tripled, doubled, singled and drove in three runs to lead the Eagles to victory.

Melanie Allen chipped in with two singles, a double and three RBIs for the winners. Kylie Mulherin added three singles and an RBI and Meagan Pelletier singled twice and had an RBI.

Julie Peers allowed only two hits and struck out five to earn the win.

Kristyn Labree and Shannon Martin each notched an RBI single for Fort Kent.

At Oakland, Amanda Barker pitched a no-hitter while striking out nine and walking three to lead Messalonskee to victory.

Ashley Currier singled twice to drive in three runs for the Eagles and Ciara Corbett hit a three-run triple. Marilyn Perry had two singles and two RBIs and Chelsey Boulette had two singles and an RBI.

At Fairfield, Sam Besse pitched a no-hitter, allowing one run with seven strikeouts, to lead Bangor by Lawrence.

Tawnya Godinez had a single, two doubles, two triples and two RBIs while Kelly White hit two doubles and a single with two RBIs. Amy Hackett and Ilyse Angst each added three singles for the Rams.

Lawrence scored its only run on a fielder’s choice in the second inning.

Skowhegan 4, Hampden 1

At Skowhegan, Marsha Daigle pitched a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts as the Indians won a pitchers’ duel.

Michelle Wells pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts for the Broncos.

Skowhegan scored all its runs in the first inning. Emily Hodgdon and Danelle Goff each doubled to spark the rally, and two runs scored on an error.

The Broncos scored an unearned run in the sixth.

Wells, Liz Kiser and Nellie Wood each singled for Hampden.

Christi Holmes had a triple, two doubles and six RBIs for Machias while Jasmine Mallar had two singles, a triple and an RBI.

Allie McKay and Courtney Lloyd singled for the Vikings’ only hits.

Shelly Melanson singled in the second inning for Shead of Eastport.
