Vanidestine leads Rams past Eagles

BANGOR – Leadoff hitter Kyle Vanidestine drew three walks and scored three runs as Bangor remained unbeaten with a 5-1 high school baseball victory over Messalonskee at Mansfield Stadium on Monday.

Alex Gallant doubled while Ben Estabrook, Scott Hackett, and Tom Crews each hit an RBI single for the Rams.

Ian Edwards and Kyle Leeman combined on a five-hitter for Bangor with eight strikeouts and two walks.

Mike Jacques singled twice and drove home the lone run for Messalonskee of Oakland.

Justin Willett pitched a five-hitter for the Eagles.

At Fairfield, Corey Cushing and Greg Higgins combined on a three-hitter to lead the Witches to victory.

Cushing allowed three hits over five innings and posted a double and a single. Higgins worked two hitless innings for Brewer and had an RBI single.

Shawn Gray paced the Witches with a double, two singles, and three RBIs. Reid McLaughlin singled twice (1 RBI), while Tim Bush stroked a run-scoring double.

Nick Nelson hit an RBI triple for Lawrence. Brock Lawrence added an RBI single.

At Newport, Jason Dore hit a two-run single to spark a four-run fifth-inning rally that propelled the Indians to victory.

Andy Boumil added two singles for Skowhegan. Cody Vigue earned the win, and Mike LaCasse got the save.

At Calais, Jamey Farley hit a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to provide the winning run for the Blue Devils.

Scott Geel went the distance on the mound and led Calais at the plate with three singles and an RBI. Farley also doubled. Nick Harmon also had a double and single, and Nick Reynolds added two singles.

Blaine Clark had three singles, Kyle McLeod doubled, and Charlie Boulrisse hit a two-run single for the Pandas.

Miles aided his own cause with a two-run double and RBI single. Ross Curry chipped in with two singles and two RBIs, and Bill Spaulding singled twice.

Brendan Gardner doubled and singled for Belfast.

Tobey Cleaves hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning for the Pirates. Richie Tompkins had two singles and Shane Tracy hit an RBI single.

D.J. Charette had two singles for three RBIs while Jordan Burleigh drove in a run on two singles. Corey Barnett also had two singles for Stearns.

Jake Crosby had three doubles, a single, and scored five runs, and Aaron Saucier hit two doubles and a single for Penobscot Valley.

Patrice Cianchette tripled and singled to knock in a run for Nokomis. Cris Pushaw had a double and a single, and Devon Carroll doubled and scored a run.
