Consolidating Bangor’s polling sites is the worst thing anyone with even a shred of intelligence could have done. It will cause confusion and much lower voter turnout. The long lines will not be good for the elderly as standing for extended periods is extremely difficult for them.
It is possible this new system, designed to save money, will end up costing more because of the increase in requests for absentee ballots. Also, the crowded conditions this new system will cause will have adverse effects on those with problems with crowds. Claustrophobia is no laughing matter.
Bangor’s city clerk needs to rethink this before the next presidential election and put polling places back to where they were.
Have you ever heard of “If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it”?
