HOLDEN – The Fields Pond Audubon Center offers free bird walks in many communities this spring. Leaders are members of Audubon, and in most cases they are also members of the communities where the walk takes place. The bird walks are for beginning bird-watchers. The schedule is:

. 6:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, Bangor City Forest, leader Ron Joseph. Meet at the Bangor City Forest parking lot at the end of Tripp Drive off Stillwater Avenue.

. 6:30-8 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, Wetlands in Hampden, leaders Wally Jakubas and Harold Gibbs. Meet at dead end of Ichabod Lane, off Meadow Road.

. 6:30-8 a.m. Thursday, May 11, Mt. Hope Cemetery in Bangor, leaders Bob Duchesne and Libby Norton. Drive into the State Street entrance, park on the right.

. 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 13, Fields Pond Audubon Center in Holden, leaders Bob and Sandi Duchesne. Meet inside the center.

. 6:30-8 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, around Winterport, leaders John Wyatt and Sharon Jackiw. Meet in Winterport village at the public parking lot on Route 1A, next to Commercial Antiques and across from Molly’s.

. 6:30-8 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, Cascade Park and Saxl Park in Bangor, leaders Chris Corio and Ron Cote. Meet at Cascade Park, State Street, Bangor.

. 6:30-8 a.m. Friday, May 19, Ecotat Gardens in Hermon, leaders Laura Levenson and Elizabeth Payne. Meet in Ecotat parking lot.

. 7-8:30 a.m. Saturday, May 20, Bangor Land Trust property and Maine Audubon property at edge of the Penjajawoc Marsh, leaders Jim Hinds and Lucy Quimby. Meet at dead end of Fox Lane, off Essex Street in Bangor. Sponsored by Bangor Land Trust and Fields Pond Audubon Center.

. 6:30-8 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, Kenduskeag Stream Trail in Bangor, leaders Hope Brogunier and Joni Dunn. Meet at the parking lot northwest and upstream of the intersection of Valley Avenue and Bruce Road.

. 6:30-8 a.m. Friday, May 26, near the Research Park in Orono, leaders Jerry Longcore and Jim Bird. Meet and park in the parking lot behind the old USDA Building on Godfrey Drive, across from the Black Bear Inn.
