HAMPDEN – Lacey Littlefield spun a three-hit shutout, striking out eight and walking only three to lead the Hampden Academy softball team to a 2-0 high school victory over the Brewer Witches Wednesday.

Michelle Wells singled and scored on a passed ball in the sixth inning for the Broncos. Ashley Gott singled and scored and Liz Kiser hit two singles.

Megan McLain hit two singles for Brewer and Christine Thoms added another.

At Stacyville, Kayla Stevens stroked a two-run single with two out in the seventh inning to lift the Cougars to victory.

Ronni Robinson reached on an error and Brooke Smallwood singled to spark the rally.

Lindsay Albert knocked in six runs with two doubles for Katahdin. Stevens added two more singles and Robinson singled twice.

Sara Brewer hit a two-run home run and a single to lead Hodgdon. Amanda Scott posted a double and two singles, while Jayme Bither singled twice.

At Hermon, Sabrina Jellison singled and eventually scored on a passed ball to help the Eagles edge the Hawks in nine innings.

Catie Cravens fired a three-hit shutout, striking out 16 and walking one, to lead Ellsworth. Maggie Seavey provided a bunt single and Kayla Lane a single for the Eagles.

Ally Wharton tripled for Hermon behind loser Ashley Kelley, who scattered three hits while registering 15 strikeouts and three walks. Cassie White laid down a bunt single and Kelley added a single.

At Dexter, Katie Poirier doubled, singled and plated five runs as Dexter prevailed in five innings.

Becky Johnson had two singles and an RBI and Michelle Chapman scattered one run on two hits while striking out 10 for the Tigers.

Jamie Cram and Tricia Hobbs had a single apiece for Schenck of East Millinocket.

At Guilford, Whitney Dwyer hit a triple and two singles to lead Orono past Piscataquis.

Heather Woodbry had two singles and a double for the Red Riots. Smily Gerber tripled and singled as Chelsea Paul added two singles.

Briana Shufelt hit two doubles for the Pirates. Jessie Pratt and Meagan Tweedie both hit two singles.

At Lee, Brooke Harris fired a two-hit shutout, striking out seven and not walking anybody, and she aided her own cause with a double and a single.

Aarika Ritchie had a run-scoring double for Lee and Karin Bird drew a bases-loaded walk in the third inning that supplied Harris with the only run she was to need.

Jenn Plourde and Abby Hallett singled for Penobscot Valley of Howland.

At Baileyville, Kristi Holmes hit a grand slam in the second, tripled, and singled for seven total RBIs and led the Machias Bulldogs past Woodland.

Gena Clark had a triple, two doubles, and a single for the Dragons. Tiffany Wormell had four singles and Cynthia Bergin had two.

At Dexter, Joe Ritto hit an RBI single to cap a five run seventh inning to lead Schenck of East Millinocket to the win.

Chris Byron hit an RBI single for the Wolverines and Shawn Landry doubled.

Dan Beatham hit a solo home run in the seventh inning for Dexter and Aaron Woodman doubled and singled to knock in a run. Rick Stewart had three singles and an RBI and Ryan Martin singled to drive in two runs.

Corey Cushing singled and drove in four runs while Shun Sasaki singled and scored three times for the winners.

Shawn Smith and Pat Stephens had a couple of singles apiece for Hampden.

Thomas Douglas singled twice for Piscataquis and Shane Tracy singled.

At Stacyville, Andy Kaye had two doubles and two RBIs to help lead the Katahdin Cougars past the visiting Hawks.

Tom Anderson had an RBI double and Ethan Qualey added an RBI single for Katahdin.

Jamie Ryan hit a two-run single and Jordan Guy singled for the only other hit

Worster and Kris King had a double and a single apiece and each drove in a run.

Everett Houghton, Travis Linscott and Charlie Boulrisse combined on a four-hitter for the winners.

Jake Crosby and Matt Cummings had a single and an RBI apiece for Penobscot Valley and Ryan Ware pitched a complete-game six-hitter.
