NEWPORT – Ian Lee tripled home Shawn Smith in the top of the eighth inning to propel the Hampden Academy Broncos to a 4-3 high school baseball victory over the Nokomis Warriors Friday.
Lee finished with two triples and two RBIs while Smith had three singles and an RBI. Joel Neill added a triple and a single for the Broncos.
Isaac Osborne hit three singles for the Warriors while Corey Harding had two singles.

At Brewer, the Witches scored six runs in the second inning and held on for their fifth consecutive victory.
Mike Kotredes had a two-run double and Ricky Adams and Corey Cushing each doubled home a run during the Brewer second, when the Witches erased an early 3-0 Erskine lead.
Kotredes also had a single for Brewer, Prentiss Swett doubled and singled and Evan Economy and Shun Sasaki each singled twice.
Swett, a sophomore, is now 7 for his last 9 at the plate.
Sophomore Greg Higgins worked the first four innings to earn the pitching win.
Mike Cotnoir singled twice for Erskine Academy of South China, while Nate McCray added a two-run single.

At Searsport, Josh Nickerson, Sean Johnson and Casey Ashey combined to allow just one run on one hit and four walks while striking out 11 to lead Searsport to victory.
Johnson hit three singles and drove in three runs for Searsport. Tom Cameron had two singles and three RBIs as Ashey and Seth Gallant each added a two-run single.

At Oakland, senior righthander Cory Estes pitched a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts and no walks to lead the Coyotes past Messalonskee.
Jarrett Lukas hit a two-run home run – his fourth of the season – in the first inning and also doubled for Old Town. Teammate Adam Fournier also hit a two-run home run. Chris Brewer hit a double and two singles to drive in a run.
Aaron Sucy doubled for Messalonskee and Mike Hachey hit a single.

At Pittsfield, Kristen Sousa tripled and doubled and scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as host Maine Central Institute earned the victory.
Sousa led off the MCI seventh with a double and went to third on Tiffany McLaggan’s bunt single before scoring on a passed ball to break a 1-1 tie.
McLaggan added three singles for the Huskies.
Erin Sweeney tripled and singled for Medomak Valley of Waldoboro, while Jamie O’Jala singled twice.
