UMA, UCB exercises May 13 MSHA director to give commencement address

AUGUSTA – About 600 graduates from the University of Maine at Augusta and University College of Bangor will receive associate and baccalaureate degrees during commencement exercises beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Augusta Civic Center.

An honorary degree of Doctor of Law will be presented to former Maine Chief Justice Daniel Wathen.

UMA also will bestow upon retired UMA professor Barry Farber the title of professor emeritus of business, as well as present a distinguished scholar award to Lisa Botshon, associate professor of English. A distinguished service award will be presented to Bruce Schatz, an Augusta businessman, for his contributions to the university and the state, and a distinguished achievement award will be given to Chris Fahy, a poet and novelist from Thomaston.

Two students also will be surprised with major awards, and the commencement address will be delivered by Maine State Housing Authority director and former state treasurer and state senator, Dale McCormick.
