Shiretowners rally for fifth victory

HOULTON – Aaron Fitzpatrick had two singles and drove in two runs to lead Houlton to a 9-7 Class C baseball victory over Calais on Saturday.

Harry Austin added two doubles and an RBI for the Shiretowners.

Scott Geel hit two singles and had an RBI while Jamey Farley had a single with two RBIs for Calais.

Caribou, Mattanawcook split

At Caribou, Josh Doucette pitched a complete game, allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts and no walks, to lead Caribou past Mattanawcook 7-1 in the first game Saturday.

Mattanawcook of Lincoln defeated Caribou 5-3 in the second game.

In the first game, Jarryd Rossignol hit two doubles and had two RBIs while Kyle Corrigan added two singles for the Vikings.

Boucard Masin hit two singles while Cory Kimball had a double with an RBI for MA.

In the second game, Kimball hit a single and a solo home run while Aaron Flannery doubled for Mattanawcook.

Rossignol and Devin Hersey each doubled while Pat Thibodeau singled twice for Caribou.

Hermon, Presque Isle split

At Hermon, Travis Estes hit a game-ending grand slam in the fifth inning to lead Hermon past Presque Isle 13-0 in the opener. The Wildcats won the second game 8-4.

In the first game, Derek Helms hit two RBI doubles for Hermon and Brady Hurd tripled and doubled. Brian Perry hit two singles and a double.

Logan York, Matt McGlinn, Bennett Cassidy, Luke Ireland and Chris Beaulieu singled for Presque Isle.

In the second game, York singled twice and drove in a run for Presque Isle and McGlinn doubled.

Estes and Perry hit back-to-back solo home runs in the second inning for Hermon.

At Van Buren, Trevor Hews allowed three hits, two walks, and no earned runs while striking out seven to lead Van Buren past Central Aroostook of Mars Hill.

Hews hit a single and a two-run home run to tie the game in the third inning for the Crusaders. Lance Smith had two singles and two RBIs and Matt Parent had a two-run single in the fourth inning and drove in a run on a hit-by-pitch.

Tim Carlson doubled and singled for the Panthers.

Katahdin sweeps Bangor Chr.

At Stacyville, Cameron Cunningham allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out 10 to lead Katahdin past Bangor Christian 5-2 in the first game. The Cougars won the second game 15-4.

In the first game, James Zabierk hit a two-run single for Katahdin. Patrick Willett hit an RBI double and Cunningham singled twice.

Phil Dougherty hit a two-run home run for Bangor Christian.

In the second game, Willett had three singles and two RBIs for the Cougars and Owen McCarthy added three singles and an RBI. Casey Savage had two singles and an RBI and Keith Anderson singled with three RBIs.

Jared Theriault paced Bangor Christian with two singles and two RBIs. Phil Dougherty hit an RBI double and Ignacio Bustos added an RBI single.

At Ellsworth, senior Matt Homich pitched a one-hitter in the opener and freshman Pat Kelley threw a five-hitter in the second game as the Eagles remained undefeated.

In the first game, Homich struck out 10, walked just one, and hit a two-run double to highlight Ellsworth’s four-run rally in the bottom of the fourth.

Josh Pelletier had Foxcroft’s lone hit, a single in the fifth inning.

In the second game, Kelley struck out six batters and walked three on the mound for the Eagles.

Caribou sweeps Mattanawcook

At Caribou, Makayla Gahagan pitched two shutouts to lead Caribou to the sweep over Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln.

Caribou won the first game 2-0 and the second game 3-0.

In the first game, Kristen Espling had a single, a double and an RBI while Emily St. Peter added two singles. Billie Martin hit a double and Gahagan had an RBI single for Caribou.

Casey McCloskey, Sarah French, Deni Nicastro and Tammy Savage each singled for Mattanawcook.

In the second game, Gahagan hit two singles and drove in a run while Ali Richards added a double and a bunt single for the Vikings.

Carlita King hit two singles for the Lynx.

At Hermon, Ashley Kelley pitched a two-hitter and allowed one walk while striking out 11 to lead Hermon to a 4-0 win in the opener. The Hawks won the second game 4-3.

In the first game, Kate Campbell had two singles and a double with an RBI for Hermon. Cassie White singled twice and scored a run and Amanda Page hit an RBI double.

Katie Delong and Meagan Pinette singled for Presque Isle.

In the second game, Campbell hit a two-run double for the Hawks and White doubled and singled to drive in a run. Mycah Cyr hit an RBI single and Kelley had eight strikeouts.

Nikki Eastman led Houlton with two doubles and two singles, while Lainey Herring tripled, doubled and singled with two RBIs.

Bangor Chr. sweeps Katahdin

At Stacyville, Jillian French pitched a one-hit shutout with two walks while recording all 15 outs via strikeout to lead Bangor Christian to a 12-0 win over Katahdin in the first game. The Patriots won the second game 21-10.

In the first game, Christian Pelletier tripled and singled to knock in four runs for Bangor Christian. Karla Dearborn had two singles and an RBI and Jen Hutchins added two singles.

Chelsie Bates broke up the no-hitter in the third inning with a single for Katahdin.

In the second game, Hutchins hit a double and two singles for the Patriots. Dearborn and Pelletier each had three singles. Amber Leathers doubled and Kelly Miller hit two singles.

French had 11 strikeouts for 26 total in 12 innings pitched on the day.

Lindsay Albert hit a single and a two-run home run for the Cougars. Jasmine Pelletier, Kayla Stevens and Brooke Smallwood each had two singles.

Kelsey Smith had a double and three singles to drive in two runs for the Crusaders. Kristal Deschaines singled four times and knocked in three runs and Megan Lajoie had a double and two singles with two RBIs.

Kala Day hit two singles and scored two runs for the Panthers.
