LINCOLN – Nick Swanson fired a six-hit shutout and helped his own cause with a home run and two singles as the Mount Desert Island Trojans earned their first victory of the season, 2-0 over Mattanawcook Academy in high school baseball action Monday.
Swanson struck out eight, walked one and hit a batter. He smacked a solo homer in the first, giving Mount Desert Island the only run it would need. Jake Willis singled twice and knocked in the other run.
Aaron Flannery rapped two doubles for Mattanawcook Academy behind Drew Welch, who scattered seven hits.

At Jonesport, Ryan Geel hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to drive in Harry Beal and give Jonesport-Beals the victory.
Beal had a double and two singles for the Royals. Joseph Libby singled twice and struck out 10 on the mound and Charlie Chandler hit a two-run single.
Isaiah Roberts had a double and two singles with an RBI for Machias. Zac McNally doubled and singled with an RBI and Patrick McDonald added an RBI single.
