AUGUSTA – Sen. John L. Martin, of Eagle Lake, was recognized by the Coalition of Maine Nursing Organizations, Organization of Maine Nursing Executives, and Nursing Leaders of Maine for his advocacy of nursing issues.
The event was held in conjunction with the annual Nurses’ Tea, at the Blaine House.
Martin was praised for his work in securing $750,000 in the state budget to be appropriated between the University of Maine System and the Community College System for faculty hiring and to add 120 nursing students.
FORT KENT – University of Maine at Fort Kent professor of English, Geraldine Cannon Becker, recently had her poem, “Kudzu and a Question Under Moon Shine” published in the anthology, “Southern Revival: Deep Magic for Hurricane Relief.”
The compilation features the works of a select group of writers and artists whose goal is to help restore hurricane-ravaged libraries in the south and to put books into the ands of evacuees. The publication was released April 29.
