PITTSFIELD – Maine Central Institute has announced its honor parts for the Class of 2006.
Dustin Sposato, son of Royce Sposato and Trudy Ferland of Pittsfield, has been named valedictorian. He has been a four-year member of the concert and jazz band as well as the jazz chorus. He has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past three years, a member of prize speaking his sophomore year, and a Boys State delegate last year.
Sposato has been a member of the student council for the past two years, serving as vice president his senior year. He is a four-year member of the Key Club and the drama club and has been a part of the track team for the past three years.
Lana Smithner, daughter of Scott Smithner and Denise Rohdin of Pittsfield, has been named salutatorian. She is the senior class secretary and has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past three years. She was a Girls State delegate and Manson essayist her junior year.
Smithner has been a member of the Key Club for three years, serving as secretary her junior year and has been a member of the drama club for the past two years. She was a peer leader her sophomore and junior years.
She played girls tennis throughout her years at MCI and served as team captain her senior year and played field hockey for the past four years serving as team co-captain her senior year.
Mark Twombley, son of Robert and Violet Twombley of Burnham, has been named first honors essayist. He is vice president of the National Honor Society this year and was a peer leader his freshman year. Twombley has played boys soccer for the past four years, serving as captain junior and senior years, and was named to the conference all-academic and all-star teams. He played varsity basketball his senior year and was captain of the junior varsity team his sophomore year.
Danielle Walkow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Walkow of White Rock, British Columbia, has been named second honors essayist. She came to Maine Central Institute to dance in the summer Bossov Ballet program and returned to MCI full time to pursue her dancing goals. She has been part of the ballet program for the past two years and will audition for ballet companies next year.
Cody Hart, son of Ashley and Jennie Hart of Pittsfield, has been named third honors essayist. He has been a member of the National Honor Society for the past three years. Hart has played tennis for the past three years, serving as team captain junior and senior years, played football for three years and was team captain his senior year. He also played junior varsity and varsity basketball.
