Dover-Foxcroft meal to give family respite care

Friends and community members are hosting a benefit supper for Steven and Tina Mace from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the American Legion Hall on Park Street in Dover-Foxcroft.

According to Sherry French, Tina Mace has been dealing with a life-limiting illness for several months, and her husband has been caring for her in their home.

Proceeds from the supper will be used to provide needed respite care for Steven.

The meal features spaghetti with all the trimmings, and admission is by donation.

You are urged to come with a good appetite, enjoy the meal in the company of family and community, and help support the Maces during this difficult time.

If you cannot attend but would like to help with this fundraiser, you can receive more information by calling French at 564-2642 or Andrea Gilbert at 876-4081.

Volunteers are needed to help load, unload and sort food for the 14th annual National Association of Letter Carriers National Food Drive, Saturday, May 13.

That day, you are asked to put nonperishable food items in a box or bag next to your mailbox. Donations will be collected during regular mail delivery.

Your letter carrier will leave a thank you postcard at your mailbox. On the card will be a unique number you can use to register at www.ksqfm.com for a chance to win prizes, thanks to a partnership with Clear Channel KISS 94.5 FM.

If you receive your mail at the post office, you can leave donations in the lobby.

This year’s collection goal for eastern Maine is 20,000 pounds.

A joint event by Bangor Breakfast and Bangor Noon Kiwanis begins at 10 a.m. at the P.A.L. Center on Watchmaker Street, off Essex Street in Bangor.

Kircheis wrote that you will find “a wide selection of hardcover and paperback books.”
