Vietnamese voyage

Chef and caterer Bich Nga Burrill will sign copies of “Vietnam Memories: A Cookbook” and give a free cooking demonstration at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at Pairings in Winterport. Call Pairings at 207.223.0990 to register.

A sweet fund-raiser

In honor of Mother’s Day, Maine McDonald’s restaurants will raise awareness – and funds – for early detection and prevention of breast cancer this weekend. From May 12 to 14, 100 percent of all apple pie sales in Maine will be donated to the Women’s Cancer Fund at the Maine Cancer Foundation. In addition to burgers and fries, pink ribbons will also be on the menu for $1, all of which will also benefit the cause.

Mama Mia!

Mom’s the word at Opus this Sunday. The Bangor restaurant will open early for a four-course Mother’s Day Dinner including such selections as a Mini Lobster Club Sandwich with Vanilla Mayonnaise; Lamb and Roasted Red Pepper Lasagna with Elephant Garlic, Grilled Ramps and Manchego Cheese; and Key Lime Bombe with Coconut and Mango Sauce. The cost is $40 per adult and an a la carte children’s menu will be available. For information or reservations, call 945-5100.
