Big School (Classes A-B)

ANDREW deBERTHUNE

DeBerthune, a pitcher for the Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield baseball team, struck out 18 batters during a complete-game three-hitter as the Huskies defeated Medomak Valley of Waldoboro 5-1. DeBerthune walked just two batters, and held the Panthers scoreless after yielding a run in the first inning.

Small School (Classes C-D)

KYLE WHITMAN

Whitman, a member of the Greenville baseball team, had six hits and drove in five runs in back-to-back victories by the Lakers. In a 19-2 win over Averill of Hinckley, Whitman had three singles and a double with three RBIs. One day later, he doubled twice and drove in two more runs as Greenville edged Valley of Bingham 8-7 to improve its record to 4-2.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

LACEY LITTLEFIELD

The Hampden sophomore pitcher picked up two wins last week, combining for 20 strikeouts in a 2-0 victory over Brewer and a 3-2 win over Nokomis in eight innings. Littlefield pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 2-1 loss to Erskine.

Small School (Classes C-D)

CHELSEA COLLIER

Collier, a senior pitcher for the Southern Aroostook softball team, earned three wins last week, including a 12-0 no-hitter against Central Aroostook. She struck out 11 in that game. Collier fanned eight in a 4-3 victory over Ashland and struck out five in an 18-2 win over Limestone Community School & Maine School of Science and Mathematics.
