ORONO – Sensitivity to students’ needs and a willingness to give plenty of individual help are traits that have made Laura G. Robinson of Farmington a successful and well-liked teaching assistant at the University of Maine.

Robinson was recognized for her efforts recently when she was presented with an award as the outstanding teaching assistant in the UM College of Education and Human Development.

Robinson is the teaching assistant for professor Ted Coladarci and aids him in teaching the course, Educational Assessment. Coladarci, who nominated Robinson for the honor, cited her desire to help students get maximum benefit from the course.

“Students know Laura is there for them, and their constant presence in her office testifies to the high regard they have for the important instructional support she provides,” he said.

College Dean Robert Cobb recognized Robinson and presented the award during a brief ceremony in Coladarci’s class.

Robinson is pursuing an individually designed master’s degree focusing on educational assessment, curriculum and research. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Maine at Farmington.
