A motorcyclist from Levant suffered lacerations to his hands and forearms Thursday when he struck the side of a pickup tow truck on Route 2.

Harold Lawrence, 73, was in the eastbound lane and turning left into the Central Maine Harley-Davidson dealership about 2:50 p.m. when he realized the dealership’s driveway was blocked and he turned back into his lane, said Sgt. Michael Burgess, Hermon constable with the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

When motorist William Parker, 47, of Newport drove around the turning motorcyclist, the front driver’s side door was damaged when Lawrence pulled back into the lane. Lawrence was wearing a helmet and suffered injuries to his hands and arms, the most substantial to his right arm which required a dozen stitches, Burgess said.

Parker was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. Traffic was reduced to one lane for about 15 minutes, he said.

A pedestrian was injured in Bangor on Wednesday when he entered a crosswalk and walked into the path of an SUV.

The driver, Amy Grenier, 34, of Milford, and a witness told police that Roland Devoe, 41, of Bangor walked out onto Exchange Street in front of Grenier who was turning right from York Street. Devoe injured his head and was bleeding, according to the police report. He was treated at Eastern Maine Medical Center and later released, a hospital nursing supervisor said Thursday.

In his accident report, Bangor police Officer Kevin MacLaren attributed the accident to Devoe’s failure to yield to traffic. MacLaren also noted that Devoe appeared to be intoxicated.
