Hermon child hit by SUV, suffers broken limbs

A 5-year-old resident of Bog Road in Hermon who was riding his bike Sunday afternoon had his arm and leg broken when he was hit by a passing vehicle driven by a local teenager, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department Deputy David Quinn said Sunday. Names are not being released because of the age of those involved, and no charges are going to be filed against the vehicle driver, Quinn said.

The 16-year-old male driver was operating a blue Toyota 4Runner with his mother as a passenger when the accident occurred just after 2:20 p.m. Emergency crews transported the child to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for treatment.

Indian Township Police Department said an early Sunday morning all-terrain vehicle rollover caused serious injuries to the operator of the ATV, Warren Dana, age unknown, who is a resident of the township.

Officer Roger Newell said Dana suffered face and head trauma and was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor around 7 a.m. Sunday. As of 8 p.m. Sunday his condition was listed as serious.

After arresting a woman for whom a warrant had been issued, a Holden police officer helped the suspect withdraw money from her bank account so she could make bail and return to a Mother’s Day cookout she was hosting.

Anne-Marie Gray, 34, of Holden bounced several checks in the area and was issued a warrant on charges of negotiating a worthless instrument. At around 6 p.m. Sunday evening, Officer Chris Greeley arrived at her home to arrest her.

Greeley said he entered the house and approached Gray, who was preparing food for a Mother’s Day cookout with her children. Greeley reported that Gray asked if he could take her to an ATM on the way to Penobscot County Jail so she could get the $400 in cash needed to make bail. Greeley said he didn’t want to see her in jail all night, but nevertheless had to arrest her, so he drove her to an ATM in Brewer, where she obtained the money.

She was held at the jail for a short time and was released just before 9 p.m.
