CARIBOU – Ashley Kelley allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out nine to lead Hermon to a 9-0 win over Caribou in the first game of a high school softball doubleheader Saturday. Hermon also took the second game 4-2.

CARIBOU – Ashley Kelley allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out nine to lead Hermon to a 9-0 win over Caribou in the first game of a high school softball doubleheader Saturday.

Hermon also took the second game 4-2.

In the first game, Lily Barry tripled, doubled, and singled to knock in three runs for Hermon. Cassie White doubled and scored three runs.

Makayla Gahagan hit a lead-off single for Caribou.

In the second game, Kelley recorded 14 strikeouts for the Hawks. Barry singled twice and Mycah Cyr singled and scored two runs.

Kristen Espling tripled and scored a run for Caribou as Gahagan, Billie Martin, and Jessica Kinney each hit a double.

At Brewer, Jordan McLain allowed just one run on five hits and three walks while striking out eight to lead the Witches by the Indians.

Jamie Knowles singled twice for the Witches and Julie Lorenze hit a bunt single. Sarah Risser scored on an error and McLain had an RBI groundout.

Danielle Goff doubled and singled for Skowhegan and Cocoa McGraw doubled. Moriah Daigle gave up two runs, two hits, and two walks and struck out eight.

At Bangor, Cala Dearborn hit four singles and scored two runs as Bangor Christian defeated Southern Aroostook.

Amber Leathers had a double and scored a run while Brooke Hale added a double and a single with a run scored for the Patriots.

Kaylea Collier hit an RBI triple while Jordan Sholler and Amanda Clark each had two singles for the Warriors.

At Bangor, Megan Mishou pitched a complete game shutout allowing one hit with 10 strikeouts to lead Bangor Christian by Searsport.

Amber Leathers hit three singles, drove in a run and scored three runs. Cala Dearborn had a double and a single with an RBI while Jen Hutchins added a double for the Patriots.

Charelle Gray had a single for Searsport.

At Woodland, Courtney Cochran hit a double, a triple and drove in four runs to lead Woodland over Shead.

Eryn Crowe had a single and a double with three RBIs while Julia Nicholas and Missy Pike each had two singles with three RBIs for the Dragons.

Tawnya Cook hit a single and a double for Shead while Whitney Vinson added a single.

At Ashland, Whitney Flint allowed pitched back-to-back one-hitters and struck out 31 batters while walking 10 to lead the Ashland Hornets to the doubleheader sweep over Wisdom of St. Agatha.

Flint has 88 strikeouts in seven starts.

In the first game, Ashley Nemer’s single up the middle with one out in the bottom of the seventh and the bases loaded scored the tying and game-winning runs.

Angela Belskis tripled for the Hornets.

Kayla Daigle’s two-out RBI double to right in the first was Wisdom’s lone hit.

In the second game, Flint did it all for the Hornets as she hit a two-run home run in the third inning and tripled.

Nicole St. Pierre did it all for the Pioneers as well as she hit a leadoff single in the sixth. Pitching-wise, she went the distance in both games, allowing nine hits with 17 strikeouts and six walks.

At Limestone, Julie Peers hit two doubles and a single to drive in two runs and lead Limestone Community School and Maine School of Science and Mathematics to victory.

Britney King had three singles and two RBIs for Limestone and Kellie Peers added three singles. Crystal Silva and Emily O’Neal both had two singles and two RBIs.

Rachel Palmer and Amy Reed each hit an RBI single for Washburn.

At Brewer, Mike Kotredes had a single, a triple and scored two runs to help lead Brewer by Skowhegan.

Shawn Gray added two singles while Prentiss Swett drove in two runs for the Witches.

Matt Morin, Jason Dore and Devin Sylvain each had a single for Skowhegan.

John Bapst, Presque Isle split

At Presque Isle, Kyle Gallant hit a solo home run in seventh inning to lead John Bapst of Bangor past Presque Isle 4-3 in the first game. The Wildcats won the second game 7-3.

In the first game, Gallant homered and doubled for the Crusaders. Nick Hubbard had two singles and an RBI and Anthony Ortiz added two singles.

Derrek Belanger hit a solo home run and a double for Presque Isle. Bennett Cassidy hit an RBI single and Tyler Lamoureaux doubled.

In the second game, Logan York doubled and singled to knock in a run for the Wildcats and Belanger hit a two-run single in the fourth inning. Cassidy singled twice and Lamoureaux hit an RBI single.

Chris Smith hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning for John Bapst. Hubbard singled twice and Alex Yates doubled and singled.

At Caribou, back-to-back solid starts from Josh Doucette and Dustin Haines gave the Caribou Vikings a doubleheader sweep.

In the first game, Doucette (3-1) pitched a three-hitter while striking out 10 batters and walking none. Dustin Haines’ one-out RBI double scored the winning run in the third. Corey Dickenson added an RBI single.

Derek Helms had a double, a single, and an RBI for the visiting Hawks. Tim Keneson allowed four hits in the loss.

In the second game, Dustin Haines walked no one, notched seven strikeouts, and allowed just one hit.

Devin Hersey had three singles, Eric Brown had two singles, and Eric Jepson doubled for the Vikings.

Zack Deabay’s single in the second was Hermon’s lone hit.

At Bar Harbor, the Golden Bucks erupted for eight runs in the eighth inning to beat the Trojans.

Eddie Robbins had two singles, a double and drove in two runs. Teddy Cooke hit a double and a single with two RBIs while Matt Jackson added a single and a double with an RBI.

Nick Swanson had a double and two singles while Brett Mitchell added a double and a single. Mike Hamlin had two singles for Bucksport.

DI-Stonington sweeps Katahdin

At Brewer, Collin Ciomei allowed just four hits and three walks while striking out 10 to lead Deer Isle-Stonington to the 6-0 win over Katahdin of Stacyville in the first game. The Mariners also won the second game 4-3.

In the first game, Eben Powers hit a double and two singles to drive in three runs for DI-Stonington. Ray Garcia had three singles and an RBI and Jon Eaton added two singles and two RBIs.

O’Neill Qualey, Cam Cunningham, Burton Brayall, and Owen McCarthy singled for Katahdin.

In the second game, Ethan Hale singled to right field in the sixth inning to score Jon Eaton and break the 3-3 tie for DI-Stonington. Powers added an RBI single.

Patrick Willett struck out 13 and walked three for the Cougars. Casey Savage singled twice to drive in a run and McCarthy hit an RBI single.

Isaiah Gillis singled three times with three RBIs to lead East Grand. Kyle Dicker doubled and singled (RBI) and Nate Sixberry doubled and knocked in three runs. Winner Micah Barnes struck out 13.

Dan Osteberg singled twice with two RBIs for Narraguagus of Harrington. Jeremy Look doubled twice.
