Maine Rural Partners, a UMaine Orono-based nonprofit, is hosting “Harness the Wealth!” a two-day workshop at the Common Ground Fairgrounds in Unity on Thursday and Friday, May 18-19. The workshop seeks to bring together rural development volunteers and professionals to share ideas on community building.
Thursday’s featured speaker is Chris Frank, the Small Business Association’s 2006 Young Entrepreneur of the Year and a founder of FUSION Bangor, a group of young people engaged in community leadership.
Friday’s workshop will focus on “Hometown Competitiveness,” a program developed to revitalize Nebraska’s rural towns, and its approach to building endowments to fund community building.
Maine-made meals, including Thursday evening’s lobster bake and Friday’s 100 percent Maine pizza will be served. Overnight arrangements can be made with Unity College or the Copper Heron B&B. For more information, call 581-4520 or visit www.mainerural.org.
