VAN BUREN – Whitney Flint fired a no-hitter, striking out 15 batters to lead the Ashland Hornets to a 9-1 high school softball victory over the Van Buren Crusaders Tuesday.

Danielle Long hit two singles, a triple and drove in two runs, and Angela Belskis doubled with an RBI for the Hornets.

Megan Lajoie struck out five for the Crusaders.

At Madawaska, Leanne Kelly had two doubles, a single and drove in three runs to lead Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics past Madawaska.

Brittany Kelly hit a pair of singles and a double to drive in three runs for the Eagles.

Kallie Pelletier had two singles and an RBI for the Owls while Andrea K. Cyr and Beth Gerard had two singles apiece.

At Madawaska, two walks, a passed ball, three errors and Gabe Hrynick’s RBI single produced four fifth-inning runs that erased a 7-4 deficit and run-scoring singles by Dustin Morgan, Andrew Kirchner and Kyle Dempsey keyed a five-run sixth inning that broke the rain-shortened game open.

Hrynick had two singles for Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Mathematics.

Billy Roy’s triple, Mark Sirois’ RBI double and Matt Beaulieu’s run-scoring single paced Madawaska.
