BANGOR – Former University of Maine at Augusta Provost Richard Randall, who has been serving as interim president at UMA, has accepted a two-year appointment to the post of campus president, University of Maine System Chancellor Joseph Westphal announced Wednesday.
Randall’s appointment will be up for confirmation by the university system’s board of trustees on Monday. The appointment would be effective July 1.
Randall joined UMA in 1967 as a sociology instructor. He retired in 2001 but agreed in 2005 to return as interim associate provost and became interim president a few months later.
“Dick has been doing an outstanding job as the university’s interim president,” Westphal said in a statement. “He earned the respect and trust of the faculty, staff and supporters of UMA and its Augusta and Bangor campuses. The trustees and I believe that his performance, combined with the upcoming reaccredidation process, warrant a full appointment to the UMA presidency.”
