PORTLAND – The Green Independent Party will hold its annual convention this Friday and Saturday in Portland.

The event will be held 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, and 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at the Center for Cultural Exchange at 1 Longfellow Square in Portland.

The keynote address will be presented by gubernatorial candidate Pat LaMarche.

Activities will include endorsement of party candidates, election of county and district committees, committee reports and other party business. In addition, the Maine Green of the Year award will be announced.

Registration will be $25 at the door with a sliding scale available so that all Greens can attend regardless of ability to pay.
