Savoy sparks rally

FORT KENT – The Fort Warriors scored eight times in the bottom of the seventh, with the final three runs coming via a three-run home run by Bud Savoy to overcome an 11-1 deficit and post an improbable 13-12 high school baseball victory over the Caribou Vikings Wednesday.

In the seventh, Gib Michaud led off with a home run, Kelly Thibodeau had an RBI double, Derek Bonenfant belted a three-run homer, and then Savoy followed with this three-run homer.

Savoy also had two singles and four total RBIs. Tom Desjardins had three singles and two RBIs while Tim Devaney had three singles and an RBI.

For the Vikings, Kyle Corrigan hit a three-run homer in the fifth and singled. Jon Noyes added a solo shot in the fourth.

At Van Buren, Kevin Baker hit a three-run homer in the top of the fifth to give Ashland the lead for good as they cruised past Van Buren.

Baker added a single, and Issac Ward notched three singles and two RBI. Trevor Thompkins singled twice with two RBI for the Hornets.

Matt Parent hit a two-run single, Trevor Hews added an RBI single and Alex Martin doubled for the Crusaders.

At Rockport, Cory Martin’s RBI double plated Brendan Weed with the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning as the visiting Black Raiders earned the victory.

Kevin McCabe followed with a suicide squeeze to drive in a run, and Chris Raymond, John Goulette and Justin Lindie capped off the extra-inning rally with consecutive RBI singles.

Camden Hills forced extra innings on Gabe Blodgett’s two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh. After Winslow regained the lead in the top of the eighth, Christian Pieri singled home a run in the bottom of the inning to send the game to the ninth.

Martin finished with two doubles and a single, while Lindie added a double and two singles and Raymond had three singles.

Michael Cummons had three singles for Camden Hills, while Pieri singled twice. The Windjammers’ Noah Burke drew five walks, including three intentional passes.

At Oakland, Mark McCann and Justin Willey hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning to help Messalonskee to the win.

Willey had a home run and two singles for Messalonskee. Nick Fenlason hit a single and a two-run double and Mike Jacques doubled.

Ryan Creighton singled and scored a run for Nokomis of Newport.

At Fairfield, Jarrett Lukas scattered six hits while striking out eight and walking none in six innings as the Coyotes shut down the Bulldogs.

Lukas also tripled, doubled and singled for Old Town. Chris Brewer slammed a 3-run home run in the first inning while Cory Estes singled twice and Nathan Lonko doubled.

Brock Lawrence and John Flynn each hit two singles for Lawrence.

At Eastport, Justin Lewey and Tommy Pottle each singled three times to help lead Shead to the win.

Mike Little doubled and singled to knock in a run for Machias and Mark Little hit an RBI single.

At Husson College in Bangor, the Trojans scored three runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth to rally for the win.

Nick Swanson paced MDI with a triple and an RBI single. Danny Dunn and Taylor Valarik each added two singles.

Nick Hubbard and Adam Clark hit two singles apiece for the Crusaders.

At Searsport, Caleb Ashey slammed a three-run homer in the bottom of the second to power Searsport.

Matt Nickerson had two singles and an RBI for the Vikings.

Ethan Pinkham doubled for the Mariners.

At Blue Hill, Max Winter pitched a two-hitter while striking out four batters and walking two to lead the visiting Red Riots past George Stevens Academy.

In the fourth inning, Winter stole second with runners at first and third, the catcher’s throw was errant, allowing Travis Dunton to score the tying run. Winter scored the winning run on Nathan Michaud’s one-out single.

Dunton and Michaud each had two singles.

Colin Henry hit a solo home run in the first and Lucas Marks singled in the fourth for GSA’s only hits. Ross Gallagher went the distance in the loss.

At East Machias, the Sumner Tigers of East Sullivan scored five runs in the top of the eighth to upset Washington Academy.

Chris Cobb scored the first run with an RBI single and two bases-loaded walks broke it open.

Evan Alexander led Sumner with three singles. Mickey Manning, Steve Brenton and Victor Jacques each singled twice.

Jeff Ramsdell hit a solo homer in the sixth and Takao Kurose had a double and a single for the Raiders.

Steve Newell hit three singles with an RBI and Scott Boomer and Riaan Bosch each singled and drove in a run for the Dragons.

At Fort Kent, Makayla Gahagan hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to help lead Caribou past Fort Kent.

Serena Grier and Julia Gagnon each hit three singles for Caribou. Billie Martin and Ali Richards both had two singles and a double.

Ashley Bouchard doubled and singled to knock in two runs for Fort Kent. Shannon Martin singled three times and Marissa Albert had two singles and an RBI.

At Houlton, Nikki Eastman had a double, a single, and three RBIs at the plate while throwing a complete-game victory on the mound for host Shiretowners.

Andrea Herring hit a three-run homer in the third inning and Sarah Harbison added two singles for the Shires.

Chelsea Glovins singled twice and drove in three runs for the visiting Wildcats. Molly Hamel had two singles.

At Oakland, Amanda Barker outdueled Patrice Cianchette on the mound to keep her Messalonskee Eagles unbeaten and knock off Nokomis of Newport.

Barker had 11 strikeouts and issued just one walk while Chelsey Boulette took care of things at the plate with two singles. Ashley Currier hit a two-run single.

Cianchette had no strikeouts, but also didn’t walk anyone.

At Woodland, Rachel Church slammed a two-run homer and added a pair of singles to lead Jonesport-Beals to the win.

Jenny Durkee tripled, doubled, socked two singles and plated four runs for the Royalettes and Kristi Smith singled three times and knocked in three runs.

Courtney Cochran led the Dragons with a two-run triple while Tiffany Wormell and Cali Anthony each had two singles and an RBI.

At Blue Hill, Christy Moon hit two home runs in the third inning to knock in five runs and also struck out 10 to lead George Stevens Academy to victory.

Chelsea Robbins tripled, doubled, and singled with three RBIs for the Eagles and Alida Peake hit a triple and a single.

Kassie Farrar singled twice to knock in a run for Orono.

At Eastport, Tricia Candelmo doubled twice, had three singles and drove in five runs to lead Shead by the Bulldogs.

Ashley Murphy chipped in with four singles and two RBIs for the winners and Brittany Seeley added a double, single and three RBIs. Whitney Remington contributed with a two-run double in Shead’s eight-run seventh inning.

Alysson Elliott singled twice and drove in four runs for Machias and Samantha Moody added a double, two singles and three RBIs.

The game was scheduled to be played in Machias but was moved to Eastport because Shead’s field was in better condition.

At Bucksport, Terren Hall hit a solo home run to help lead Bucksport to the win.

Kayla Allen doubled and singled to drive in two runs for the Golden Bucks and Katie Allen doubled and singled with one RBI. Alex Sullivan had two singles and two RBIs and Sarrah Winters singled twice.

Serena Jellison doubled and singled for Ellsworth and Maggie Seavey had two singles and an RBI.

Whitney Haskell had three singles and an RBI for DI-Stonington. Anika Powers had two singles and three runs scored and Mary Parker hit an RBI double.

Brittani Frisbie hit two singles to knock in a run for Searsport. Mindy Ashey hit an RBI single and Breanne Kingsbury singled and scored.
