ELLSWORTH – After offering its annual Walk for Life for five years in nearby Washington County, the Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center will host its first trek in Ellsworth starting at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 21.
The walk still will be held in Addison, on Saturday, May 20, but the center’s executive director, Michael Reisman, decided to offer an additional walk to reach out to the greater Ellsworth community, where the center is located.
The first Walk for Life in Ellsworth, dedicated to the memory of William Crowe, will start and end at the Woodlawn Museum off Route 172.
Crowe, a Winter Harbor resident, was founding publisher and editor of the Fisherman’s Voice, an industry newspaper. Crowe died in January after a three-year battle with cancer.
Reisman said he expects as many as a 100 participants on Sunday. Those wishing to sign up can do so Friday by calling the center at 664-0339. Walkers also can register before the walk on Sunday.
The cost is $25, with proceeds benefiting the Beth Wright Center, which provides programs and services free of charge to cancer patients and their families.
