MACHIAS – Mark Little hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to give to spark a five-run outburst in the bottom of the fifth inning to lead the Machias baseball team to a 6-5 victory over Washington Academy Thursday.

Garrett Getchell doubled for Machias and Little added a single.

James Stauffer hit a double and two singles to drive in a run for Washington Academy of East Machias and Takao Kurose had three singles and an RBI.

Houlton 10, Presque Isle 9

At Houlton on Wednesday, Aaron Fitzpatrick hit a safety-squeeze RBI bunt single in the seventh inning to drive in Corey Lewis and give Houlton the win.

Ricky Stairs hit a two-run single in the seventh to tie the game for Houlton. Fitzpatrick hit three singles, and Hunter Caron and Harry Austin each had two singles and an RBI.

Matt McGlinn hit a three-run triple for Presque Isle and Logan York added a two-run double.

At Fort Kent on Wednesday, the Warriors scored eight times in the bottom of the seventh, with the final three runs coming via a three-run home run by Bud Soucy to overcome an 11-1 deficit against the Caribou Vikings and post their fourth straight victory.

In the seventh, Gib Michaud led off with a home run, Kelly Thibodeau had an RBI double, Derek Bonenfant belted a three-run homer, and then Soucy followed with this three-run homer.

Soucy also had two singles and finished with four RBIs. Tom Desjardins had three singles and two RBIs – his fifth straight three-hit game – while Tim Devaney had three singles and an RBI.

For the Vikings, Kyle Corrigan hit a three-run homer in the fifth and singled. Jon Noyes added a solo shot in the fourth.
