Yates leads John Bapst by Ponies

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Alex Yates allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five to lead John Bapst of Bangor to a 4-2 Class B baseball victory over Foxcroft Academy on Saturday.

Casey Hull singled twice for the Crusaders and Nick Smith doubled.

Nick Lancisi led Foxcroft Academy with a double and a single.

At Newport, Lawrence of Fairfield had four of its nine hits in the top of the eighth inning to forge a game-winning three-run rally.

Devin Raven paced the Bulldogs with a triple, single and two runs, while John Flynn and Brock Lawrence each singled -twice.

Corey Harding led Nokomis with two doubles, two runs and an RBI, while Brendan Donaldson had three singles and two RBI.

Harding hit an RBI double and scored on a single by Donaldson in the sixth inning as Nokomis rallied to forge a 3-3 tie and send the game into extra innings.

BC, Schenck top Howlers

At Howland, Willy Hinkley hit two singles and drove in three runs to lead Bangor Christian past Penobscot Valley in the first game 12-9. Schenck of East Millinocket beat the Howlers 6-5 in the second game.

In the first game, Shane Murphy singled twice for the Patriots.

Corey Soucy hit three singles and knocked in a run for Penobscot Valley. Jake Crosby had a double and two singles with an RBI and Ryan Ware doubled and singled.

In the second game, Nick Bishop singled and doubled and recorded 10 strikeouts for Schenck. Shawn Landry singled and drove in a run.

Crosby doubled and singled for the Howlers and Matt Cummings hit an RBI single.

PVHS falls to BC, downs Schenck

At Howland, Bangor Christian rode 12 strikeouts by pitcher Jillian French to beat Penobscot Valley 12-4. The Howlers bounced back to outlast Schenck 13-2 in their second game of the day.

In the first game, Amber Leathers and Jenn Hutchins each singled twice to lead the Patriots.

Kelsey Lavertu tripled and singled for the Howlers.

In the second game, Kirstie Dawson smacked three doubles and Molly Thompson added two singles for PVHS.

Courtney MacLeod singled twice for the Wolverines.

At Hermon, Ashley Kelly struck out 15 and Cassie White smacked an RBI double and a single to lead Hermon over Mattanawcook.

Ashley Kelly and Lilly Berry each singled for the Hawks.

Bre Hanscombe hit a triple, and Casey McCloskey, Sarah French and Ashley Clapp each singled for the Lynx.

At Dover-Foxcroft, Ellen Umphrey hit a single and a triple and drove in three runs to lead John Bapst of Bangor to the win.

Hillary Laferriere singled twice with two RBI and Danielle Richard added a double, single and an RBI.

Kristina Weymouth notched a double, two singles with an RBI and Sami Hall chipped in with a double, single and drove in a run for the Ponies.

Hampden loses twice

At Fairfield, with the game tied at three, Katye Mayo hit a three-run double in the sixth inning to lead Lawrence to the 8-3 win over Hampden Academy in the Broncos’ second game of the day.

Messalonskee topped Hampden the earlier game at Oakland 3-0.

In the first game, Lauren Blake had two singles and scored two runs for Messalonskee and Chelsea Barker singled twice.

Mikki Libbey, Liz Kiser, Ashley Gott, Nellie Wood and Myra Shannon each singled for Hampden Academy.

In the second game, Melanie Blakney singled twice for Lawrence.

Libbey and Hannah Growe each hit thee singles for Hampden. Gott and Eva Shannon both added two singles.
