CHICAGO – Gatorade Thirst Quencher has announed Joe Fessenden of Portland High School as the 2005-06 Maine Baseball Player of the Year.

At the time of his selection, Fessenden, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound senior righthanded pitcher and outfielder, was 3-0 with an 2.06 ERA and 19 strikeouts. He had a .409 average with two home runs, two doubles, two triples, and 10 RBIs. He was named co-captain in 2005 and has earned All-League and All-State recognition.

The Gatorade Player of the Year program recognizes one winner in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia in a variety of sports.
