STACYVILLE – Senior righthander Patrick Willett tossed a five-hitter, striking out 11 and walking three, as Katahdin avenged an earlier loss at Ashland with a 5-2 victory over the Hornets in high school baseball action Tuesday.

Willett also drove in two runs with a first-inning single and fifth-inning fielder’s choice.

Casey Savage had an RBI double and brothers Evan and Owen McCarthy had RBI singles.

Trevor Tompkins had a two-run homer for Ashland and Carl Nemer singled twice.

At Madawaska, Derek Bonenfant tripled twice, singled and drove in five runs to lead the Warriors past the Owls.

Winning pitcher Tom Desjardins aided his own cause with a triple, RBI double and two singles. Gib Michaud chipped in with a triple and two RBIs and Joey Soucy had two singles and an RBI.

David McDermott recorded an RBI double for the Owls and Paul Roy singled twice and drove in two runs.

Matt Gorman’s two singles led the Bulldogs.

Fort Fairfield wins one, loses one

At Fort Fairfield, Whitney Searles doubled, singled twice and knocked in four runs to lead Fort Fairfield past Washburn 15-12. The Tigers lost to Wisdom earlier in the day 12-3.

In the second game, Kelli Osgood singled twice, doubled and knocked in three runs for the Tigers.

Kelsee McLaughlin had a two-run double and Amy Reed three singles and three RBIs for Washburn.

In the first game, Nicole St. Pierre struck out 11 in a complete-game win for the Pioneers of St. Agatha.

Kayla Daigle hit a solo home run for Wisdom while Kelsey Towle doubled for Fort Fairfield.

Danielle Richard had John Bapst of Bangor’s lone hit, a fourth-inning single.
