BANGOR – A Parkman man pleaded not guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court to gun charges.
Charles Maloon, 47, was indicted in March after his neighbor reported that Maloon pointed a gun at his home.
His trial tentatively is scheduled for July in U.S. District Court in Bangor.
He was charged with possession of an unregistered firearm and a firearm with a scratched-off serial code. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $500,000.
Maloon allegedly had a dispute with the neighbor, and upon arriving at his residence, police seized six guns, including a sawed-off shotgun.
State charges of criminal threatening for Maloon, resulting from the same dispute with his neighbor, are pending in 13th District Court in Dover-Foxcroft.
Maloon was released on $5,000 bail.
In an unrelated case, Alfred Saulnier Jr., 33, of Carlisle, Pa., was indicted on May 15 by a federal grand jury on charges of bulk cash smuggling.
Saulnier was arrested in April when he tried to cross the Calais border into Canada with $12,785 in $100 and $50 bills hidden in his boots.
He told agents with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement division of Homeland Security that he had planned to buy crack cocaine in Canada.
He admitted to distributing the cocaine in Pennsylvania, according to court documents.
