Kelley sharp as Hawks hold off Crusaders

BANGOR – Ashley Kelley pitched a four-hitter, scattering two runs on four hits while striking out 12, as the Hermon softball team picked up its 12th win of the spring, 3-2 over John Bapst on Thursday.

Jasmine Veilleux, Kate Campbell, and Amanda Page each hit an RBI single for the Hawks.

Gwen Wadleigh also pitched a four-hitter for John Bapst with six strikeouts and three walks. Devan Richard, Danielle Richard, Lauren Nichols, and Hillary Laferriere each singled for the Crusaders.

At Stacyville, Jasmine Pelletier slammed a three-run home run and Chelsie Bates drove in three runs with two doubles and a single to lead Katahdin by the Wolverines.

Ronni Robinson added two doubles for the winners.

Kayla Osborne and Ashley Delong each doubled for Schenck of East Millinocket.

At Lee, Emily Wilkinson hit two singles and a double, scored three runs, and had two RBIs as Calais remained undefeated.

Steph Perry struck out eight and hit a two-run single. Darcey Gillespie added a three-run double for the Blue Devils.

Amanda Gifford, Brooke Harris, Aarika Ritchie, and Dana Houghton each singled for the Pandas.

At Bangor, sophomore Jillian French pitched her first career no-hitter, striking out 11 and walking one over five innings as Bangor Christian won its 13th straight.

Christin Pelletier had three singles and drove in two runs to pace the Patriots. Jenn Hutchins contributed two singles and two RBIs. Pelletier and Hutchins each scored twice.

Jessica Bates tallied a double for the Riots, who scored twice in the sixth to down Searsport.

Aimee Neilson and Haley Grove each singled for the Vikings.

At Greenville, Leslie Harris clouted a solo home run to lead Greenville past Valley of Bingham. Beth Bartley singled twice and tripled to knock in five runs for the Lakers.

Jeri Fitzmaurice had an RBI single for the Cavaliers.

Sarah French and Angel Cumberland each hit two singles with two RBIs, and Casey McCloskey added a single and an RBI triple for the winners.

Lindsey Chase and Sami Hall each singled for the Ponies.

At Howland, righthander Jamie Milton allowed only two hits and struck out 10 to lead Penobscot Valley by the Patriots of Milo.

Kelsy Lavertu tripled and doubled to lead the winners.

At Millinocket, sophomore Hunter Caron scattered seven hits while striking out six and not walking a batter to lead the Shiretowners to victory.

Chris Howland backed Caron with a solo home run and RBI single, while Harry Austin doubled, singled, and drove in a run. Aaron Fitzpatrick and Mike Cleary each added two singles.

Cory Barnett doubled and drove in a run for Stearns.

At Stacyville, Cameron Cunningham no-hit the Wolverines and the Cougars slammed three home runs en route to the win.

Cunningham finished with nine strikeouts and walked only one over five innings.

Burton Brayall posted a solo homer and a single, Patrick Willett added a three-run homer, James Zabirek had a solo homer, and Cunningham had two doubles and two RBIs.

At Howland, senior catcher Jake Crosby, who has been a defensive spark throughout the season, turned in a strong offensive game with a three-run homer and an RBI single to lead Penobscot Valley to victory.

Brady Nicholson chipped in with two doubles and four RBIs and Dylan Thompson doubled, singled, and drove in a run for the winners.

Nick Emery singled twice, doubled, and had an RBI for Penquis of Milo, Kyle Gero added two singles and an RBI, and Noah Bissell had an RBI single.

Kris King hit a triple, two singles, and drove in a run, and B.J. Crocker and Charlie Boulrisse each singled twice for the Pandas.

Scott Geel notched an RBI single and Keegan McCormick doubled for the Blue Devils.

At Bangor, Ben Hardie tossed 4 1/3 innings of three-hit, shutout relief and had a two-run single in a seven-run, third-inning rally as Deer Isle-Stonington beat Bangor Christian.

Collin Ciomei and Ray Garcia had two singles and three runs batted in apiece, and Shane Eaton singled twice for the Mariners.

Justin Phinney doubled and singled for Bangor Christian, Micah Dougherty doubled, and Josh Frost drove in two runs with a single and a bases-loaded walk.

At Lincoln, Josh Pelletier’s two-run single and Nick Lancisi’s run-scoring single keyed a five-run fourth inning that enabled Foxcroft Academy to hold off the Lynx.

Lancisi had four singles and two RBIs, and winning pitcher Pelletier had two doubles to go with his single. Adam Conway had an RBI double.

Tyler White had a double and two singles and drove in two runs for Mattanawcook Academy. Jake Smith doubled twice and knocked in a pair, Bourcard Nesin had a double and a single and an RBI, and Tyson Tash singled twice with an RBI.

At Guilford, Justin Morrill hit a solo home run and Brad Brown added a two-run single as Penquis downed Piscataquis.

Nathan Allen singled twice for the Patriots of Milo.

Roy Burdin hit two singles and struck out 14 for the Pirates. Nathan Johnston chipped in with a two-run single.

At Greenville, Jake Gallant’s two-run single highlighted a six-run rally in the second inning that propelled the Lakers to victory.

T.J. St. Louis and Joe Jardine each added two singles and two RBIs for Greenville, while Tim Post had two singles and one RBI.

Justin Plourde paced Valley of Bingham with three singles and two RBIs.

At Manson Park in Pittsfield, John Wentworth pitched a three-hitter as Mount View of Thorndike earned the victory.

Kyle McDonald’s two-run single highlighted a three-run rally in the top of the third that rallied the Mustangs from an early 1-0 deficit.

McDonald finished with two singles, as did teammate Ethan Jean.

Victor Quint had an RBI single and scored a run for MCI.

At Orono, Shawn Johnson drove in seven runs on two doubles and a three-run homer as Searsport downed Orono.

Caleb Ashey tallied two singles, a double, and five runs scored for the Vikings.

Travis Bryant doubled for the Red Riots.

At Husson College in Bangor, the Hawks rallied for two runs in the top of the 10th to edge the Crusaders.

Tim Kenerson doubled in the 10th for the Hawks and scored two outs later on an infielder error. Paul Ornsby followed with an RBI single to score Brady Hurd, who had received an intentional walk.

Kenerson added two singles and Zach Deabay doubled and singled twice.

John Gagnon recorded three singles for Bapst, and Chris Smith doubled and singled.
