Two illegal aliens from Mexico were taken into custody at the Greystone Trailer Park in Veazie Thursday evening in a joint operation carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Veazie police.
Yuis Lopez Javier, 25, and an unidentified adult male were arrested about an hour apart without incident at one of the trailers in the park off Route 2, according to Veazie Officer Michael Adams. The arrests were part of an investigation that spanned nearly two months. The two men were transported to Portland to await deportation proceedings.
Two more illegal aliens were expected to be taken into custody at the trailer park, but were not there, Adams said. All four men were believed to be employed by a construction-related business in Bangor, according to Adams. The investigation is part of a federal immigration enforcement program titled “Return to Sender,” Adams said.
A Bradley man told police of a harrowing experience he had with his girlfriend early Thursday morning as he tried to drive her home to Hampden from Bangor.
Meeting Bangor police officers at the Main Street Dunkin’ Donuts at about 3 a.m., the man said Kathryn Mairhuber, 24, became unruly on the ride home, including grabbing the steering wheel while they were on the Interstate 95 ramp to Union Street. The vehicle went off the road into the grass, according to the police report.
She also kicked and punched him, knocked off the rearview mirror and snapped the turn signal lever, reported Bangor police Officer Steve Pelletier who saw the damage to the vehicle.
Mairhuber was arrested and charged with domestic assault and criminal mischief.
A man arrested for violating a protection order days earlier was nabbed by police again Wednesday night for the same infringement, according to police reports.
James McClure, 41, of Bangor was charged with violating a protection from abuse order and violating conditions of release.
According to police, a 43-year-old woman, with whom McClure had two children, called police and complained of a man who violated release conditions. She claimed that McClure tried to contact her through a friend and relative.
Because the protection order prohibited McClure’s direct or indirect contact with the woman, police arrested him around 11 p.m. Wednesday at the Ranger Inn.
