Man arrested in assault on his newlywed wife

Orono police were called to Austin Drive where an ongoing argument between a couple married for three weeks ended with the husband being taken to jail early Friday morning.

James Cianni, 40, left and returned several times to his residence and argued with his new wife, according to police.

The last time was about 2 a.m. when he damaged a coffee table, slapped his wife on the back of her head and pushed her, according to police.

Orono police Officer Jason Zalva arrested Cianni and charged him with domestic assault.

Two men were given warnings not to harass a man at Pickering Square in Bangor on Thursday, but one of them didn’t follow the directions and within about 90 minutes was arrested. Bangor police arrested Caleb Look, 19, of Bangor, charging him with disorderly conduct, harassment and criminal mischief.

A Stockton Springs man caught the attention of Bangor police Thursday when he turned onto Cedar Street from Third Street and drove over the curb.

Bangor police Sgt. Thomas Reagan reported that both driver and passenger had a beer with them. Reagan learned that Keith Brown’s license was suspended and arrested him. Reagan also charged Brown with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants.

A Bangor man was arrested Thursday afternoon for allegedly assaulting a 31-year-old woman.

Daniel Magnant, 37, was charged with domestic assault and transported to Penobscot County Jail, police said.

According to police, the woman said that while she was attempting to drive her son to school, Magnant tapped her face with a closed fist and said, “I’ll kill you.”

A Massachusetts man stopped for speeding in Brewer early Thursday morning claimed to be someone else, but gave that up after the police officer noticed an identification card on the driver’s seat.

The ID card identified the driver as Keyshawn Wallace, 23, of Roxbury, Mass.

Brewer police Officer Amy Nickerson stopped Wallace about 12:30 a.m. for doing 39 mph in a 25-mph zone. Nickerson charged him with speeding and with operating a motor vehicle without a license.
