Murchison helps Mattanawcook defeat Presque Isle

PRESQUE ISLE – Josh Murchison’s two-run single with two outs in the fifth inning gave Mattanawcook Academy some breathing room en route to a 9-6 high school baseball win over Presque Isle on Friday.

Jake Smith, Tyson Tash, and Mike Farrell each doubled, singled, and drove in a run for the Lynx of Lincoln, and Murchison finished with two singles and two RBIs. Drew Welch earned the win.

Derrek Belanger had three singles and three RBIs for the Wildcats with Chris Beaulieu and Matt McGlinn contributing doubles.

At Bangor, the Patriots battled back from a 7-1 deficit to scored seven runs in the fifth inning and earn the win over Jonesport-Beals.

Justin Phinney singled twice and drove in two runs while Will Hinkley and Jared Theirault each singled twice with an RBI. Shane Murphy added two singles for the Patriots.

Ben Ellis hit three singles and drove in two runs while Joe Libby had two singles with two RBIs for the Royals.

At East Millinocket, Tom Speed doubled, singled and drove in four runs and Tom Collins added three singles and an RBI to lead Central.

Chris Haney hit two singles and drove in a run and Danny Kane also tallied two singles for the Red Devils.

Nick Bishop drove in a run with a single and a double, Jordan Pelkey chipped in two singles and an RBI and Josh Brown singled twice for the Wolverines.

At Old Town, Jarrett Lukas hit two singles, a double and drove in three runs to lead Old Town by Messalonkee.

Nathan Lonco singled and tripled with three RBIs while Chris Brewer added a single for the Coyotes.

Sloan Sidelinger had two singles with an RBI while Mark McCann doubled and scored a run for the Eagles.

At Hermon, Bucksport scored four unanswered runs in the top of the sixth to take the lead and hang on for the win.

Chris Maguire tripled and singled and Ted Cook and Pat Dedmon had an RBI single apiece for the Golden Bucks.

Brady Hurd hit two singles and Brian Soucier drove in a run on a single for the Hawks.

At Millinocket, Jordan Burleigh’s three-run triple highlighted an 11-run third inning that carried Stearns past Penquis of Milo.

Travis Deabay paced Stearns’ 14-hit attack with a triple and three singles. He scored four times. Travis Martin drove in four runs with a two-run homer and two sacrifice flies; Corey Barnett doubled and singled and knocked in a pair and Paul Rucci had two singles and an RBI.

Kyle Gero doubled and singled for Penquis and Zack Beals singled twice.

Brady Nicholson hit a two-run single while Brad Cummings and Dylan Thompson each hit an RBI single for the Howlers.

At Hampden, Shawn Smith tallied a double, two singles and three RBIs and Ian Lee chipped in with a triple, two singles and drove in three runs as Hampden cruised past Nokomis.

Joel Neill singled, doubled and had two RBIs and Danny MacLean tripled and scored two runs for the Broncos. Harvey Shue added two singles and two runs scored.

Eric Boillard singled twice for the Warriors.

Matt Nickerson struck out 12 Sumner batters and Casey Ashey hit three singles for the Vikings. Kyle Ritchie chipped in with an RBI double.

Steve Kerrigan tallied two singles with three RBI and Mickey Manning drove in two runs on two singles. Evan Alexander singled and doubled for the Tigers.

At Millinocket, Deanna Michaud hit a double, single, and triple and drove in three runs to pace Stearns.

Hilary Arsenault struck out five and hit three singles with an RBI, and Hannah Somers tripled, singled and tallied three RBI for the Minutemen.

Kylie Palmer notched two singles and Mindy Dolly doubled for the Patriots.

At Orono, Lindsey Colbath’s two-run double and Heather Woodbrey’s two-run single keyed a five-run fourth inning that broke open a close game.

Colbath drove in four runs with two singles to go with her double. Woodbrey had three singles and three RBIs and Jessica Bates had three singles and two RBIs. Chelsea Paul, Emily Balaban-Garber and Kassie Farrar had two base hits apiece. Farrar had an RBI.

Sophomore righty Vanessa Leture pitched a four-hitter, striking out seven and walking three.

Kaitlin Smith had two singles for Piscataquis Community High of Guilford.

Kristie Collins had four singles and two RBIs for the winners and Traci Underhill tripled, doubled and singled and drove in two.

Haney doubled to go with her homer, Erica Brownell doubled and singled and Brooke Washburn had two singles.

Brianne Smith’s fifth-inning single was Schenck’s only hit.

At Hampden, Lacey Littlefield struck out 10 Nokomis batters and Mikki Libby drove in two runs on a single and a double as Hampden downed Nokomis.

Jenna Shue hit an RBI single and a double, and Eva Shannon recorded an RBI double for the Broncos. Nelly Wood chipped in with two singles.

Chris Pushaw scored the lone run for the Warriors on an RBI single and Patrice Cianchette and Sammy Moore doubled.

At Millinocket Thursday, catcher Dayna Somers notched two doubles, a single and drove in two runs to lead Stearns over Houlton.

Katie Mills added three singles and an RBI and Amy Collinsworth had a double, single and an RBI for the winners.

Erika Lackey drove in two runs on a double and a single, and Lainey Herring chipped in with a single and a triple for the Shiretowners.

At Brewer Wednesday night, Nellie Wood hit a two-run triple in the top of the ninth to lift the Broncos to the win.

Lacey Littlefield turned in a strong pitching performance for Hampden, striking out 14 and scattering five hits. Hannah Grow, Michelle Wells and Liz Kiser each had two singles.

Christine Thoms singled twice for Brewer and Jordan McLain struck out 10.
