PORTLAND – Portland Sea Dogs outfielder David Murphy and righthanded pitcher Barry Hertzler have been promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Murphy, the Sea Dogs MVP in 2005 and the Red Sox 2005 Minor League Defensive Player of the Year, hit .273 in 42 games with three home runs and a team-high 25 RBIs for the Sea Dogs this year. The 24-year-old Murphy was a first-round pick, 17th overall, of the Boston Red Sox in the June 2003 draft.

Hertzler, 25, has appeared in 16 games for Portland this season, posting no record with four saves and a 1.05 ERA. Hertzler was drafted by the Red Sox in the 11th round in June 2003, and his younger brother Brad recently signed a letter of intent to pitch for the University of Maine Black Bears.
