Nicholas Oppedisano, 39, of Bangor was arrested Saturday and for the third time since 2003 was charged with assault after allegedly spitting in the face of his longtime girlfriend and pulling her by the hair, Bangor police said.
Officer Rob Angelo arrived at the couple’s home on Union Street and reported Oppedisano as being uncooperative. He allegedly yelled at the police to stay off his property. A witness earlier saw a tire iron fly out of the couple’s garage, police said. Oppedisano allegedly told the victim to pick it up. The witness said she saw Oppedisano push the victim and said it looked as though he had hit her, according to police.
The victim refused to fill out any paperwork or sign anything, police said. She did not press charges because, she said, she had no faith in the system and just wanted Oppedisano removed from the house.
The couple’s four children were inside the house at the time of the incident.
