Ashland’s Flint no-hits Panthers

ASHLAND – Whitney Flint spun a no-hitter, recording eight strikeouts as the Ashland Hornets won their regular-season high school softball finale over Central Aroostook of Mars Hill, 16-3 on Wednesday.

Danielle Long laced a bases-loaded double and added a two-run single later in the game for Ashland. Ashley Nemer had three singles and an RBI and Angela Belskis drove in three runs with two singles.

Madawaska 12, Wisdom 4

At St. Agatha Tuesday, Andrew M. Cyr drove in three runs with two singles to lead the Owls to the win.

Nicole Daigle and Andrea K. Cyr each had four singles for Madawaska.

Kayla Daigle singled twice, tripled and knocked in two runs for the Pioneers.

At Caribou Tuesday, Makayla Gahagan threw a two-hitter, striking out nine and walking five, and singles by Billie Martin and Kristen Espling highlighted a three-run sixth inning that broke the game open.

Serena Grier doubled and walked three times for Caribou and Jessica Kinney doubled.

Andrea Herring and Shay Prosser singled for Houlton and Nikki Eastman pitched a five-hitter in defeat.

Lee sweeps Katahdin

At Stacyville, Aarika Ritchie tallied four hits and four RBI in two games as Lee took two from Katahdin.

In the first game, Ritchie doubled twice and had three RBI and three runs scored to lead the Pandas.

Ronni Robinson and Lindsay Albert each singled for the Cougars.

In the second game, Ritchie notched a single and a triple with an RBI, and Kerri Harris added two doubles and an RBI for Lee. Amanda Gifford singled twice and drove in a run.

Albert scored the Cougar’s lone run on an RBI single and Chelsie Bates singled and doubled with a run scored.

At Fort Kent, Nicole St. Pierre pitched a one-hitter with three walks and six strikeouts to give Wisdom of St. Agatha the shutout win.

Silvia Labrie and Sadi Dubois both doubled and singled for Wisdom. St. Pierre, Chelsie Paradis, and Kayla Michaud each hit two singles.

Marissa Albert singled in the second inning for Fort Kent.

At Fort Fairfield, sophomore righty Shannon Towle tossed a one-hitter, striking out four and not walking anybody, and Kerrie Cunningham belted a three-run triple in a four-run, second-inning rally as the Tigers triumphed.

Kelsy Towle had three singles and two RBIs for Fort Fairfield and Ruthie Arato had two singles.

Megan Lajoie’s fourth-inning single was Van Buren’s only hit.

At Belfast, Heather Read scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Jillian Ross line drive single to centerfield for Belfast.

Liz Brown hit an RBI single for Belfast.

April Baker singled twice and scored a run for Medomak Valley of Waldoboro. Stephanie Lee had a single and two RBIs and Kayla Winchenbach singled and scored a run.

At Limestone, Julie Peers went 5-for-5 with four singles, a double and two RBI as Limestone Community School and the Maine School of Science and Mathematics downed Hodgdon.

Emily O’Neal tallied two singles and two RBI and Brittany King singled three times for the winners.

Sara Brewer cranked a three-run homer and Tasha Dwyer and Dayna Tidd hit two singles and drove in two runs apiece. Jayne Bither and Kayla Flemming each added two singles for the Hawks.

At Ashland, with a one run lead in the fifth inning, Jeremy Tarr hit a two-run double to help lead Ashland to victory.

Tarr doubled and singled with two runs scored for the Hornets. Henry Milligan had two doubles and a run scored and Justin Belanger singled twice.

R.J. Richardson tripled and singled with two runs scored for Central Aroostook of Mars Hill. Eric Martinez had two singles and two RBIs and Cameron York hit a two-run single.

LCS/MSSM wins two

At Limestone, Limestone Community School/Maine School of Science and Math racked up 32 runs on 25 hits to beat East Grand 10-1 and Hodgdon 22-5.

In the first game, Mike Hancock and Dustin Morgan each had a two-run single and Matt Enman singled and doubled for the Eagles.

Eric Preston had an RBI single for East Grand of Danforth.

In the second game, Hancock doubled, singled three times and knocked in two runs and Morgan doubled twice to drive in three more as the Eagles rolled over the Hawks.

Enman singled three times and Andrew Kirchner twice for the winners.

Matt Slyvester doubled while Jamie Ryan and Jordan Guy each singled for Hodgdon.

Lee sweeps Katahdin

At Stacyville, Blaine Clark hit two singles and a two-run double to help lead Lee Academy to the 15-9 win over Katahdin in the first game. The Pandas also won the second game 8-6.

In the first game, Kris King homered and singled for Lee and B.J. Crocker hit a two-run double and an RBI single.

James Zabierk hit a three-run home run, and solo home run, and a single for Katahdin. Patrick Willett had a two-run double and a single as Jared Anderson and Keith Anderson each singled twice.

In the second game, Tyler Thompson doubled twice and drove in a run for Lee and Crocker had two singles and an RBI. King hit an RBI double and Clark singled twice.

Willett hit an RBI double for the Cougars. Casey Savage singled twice and Owen McCarthy singled and knocked in a run.

At Fort Fairfield, Alex Martin singled four times and knocked in two runs to help Van Buren to victory.

Trevor Hews hit a two-run home run and a single for Van Buren and Kyle Chasse doubled and singled with an RBI.

Hews allowed just one run on two hits and three walks while striking out seven.

Jake Kenneson hit an RBI triple for Fort Fairfield and recorded 10 strikeouts.

Fort Kent 11, LCS/MSSM 9

At Fort Kent Tuesday, the Warriors, who trailed 6-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth, scored eight runs in the frame, five of which came on home runs, to rally past Limestone/Maine School of Science and Math.

Bud Soucy led off the rally with a solo homer and finished it off with a two-run shot, giving him seven on the season. Tom Desjardins gave Fort Kent its first lead of the contest with a two-run homer of his own.

Scott Pelletier doubled while Joe Soucy doubled and singled and Derek Bonenfant added two singles for the Warriors.

James Dempsey led the Eagles with a three-run homer in the second and a two-run dinger in the seventh. Matt Enman added a solo shot in the seventh to pull the Eagles to within two.

At Pittsfield, Mike Eaton of Oak Hill took a no-hitter into the seventh inning with two outs until Chris Smedberg hit an RBI single for Maine Central Institute.

Eric Daniels hit a two-run single for Oak Hill of Sabattus and Josh Jillson added two singles and a run scored. Eaton had four strikeouts and one walk.
