BANGOR – You might wanna get a sittah for the younguns, make the first sittin’ at the church hall baked bean suppah, and then come see the show. So says Maine humorist Tim Sample.

Penobscot Theatre Company will welcome Maine humorist Tim Sample to the Bangor Opera House on Main Street for two shows, at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, June 10.

“Tim Sample is certainly a landmark performer in Maine,” said Scott RC Levy, artistic director of the Penobscot Theatre Company. “We’re truly blessed that Tim will be performing to help the restoration of the Bangor Opera House, itself an historic landmark in Maine.”

Sample has sold more than 1 million books, albums and videos and, over 11 years, produced more than 100 “Postcards from Maine” segments for CBS News “Sunday Morning.” Sample lives year-round on Georgetown Island, but travels frequently to perform.

Audience members will be treated to more than just Sample’s authentic Maine humor. Everyone in attendance will receive a can of Moxie and a whoopie pie.

Also, the first 100 to buy tickets receive an autographed box set of Tim Sample’s “The Bert and I Years.”

Comedian Chris Quimby of Brooks will open each show. For ticket information, call the Penobscot Theatre at 942-3333, or visit www.penobscottheatre.org.
