BANGOR – The second annual Video Festival and Workshop sponsored by the New England School of Communications was held May 19.
Competitions were held in the production of 30-second and 60-second spots, individual documentaries and group projects. Entries were judged on creativity, shot selections and quality of audio and video.
Awards included scholarships to NESCom, DVD players, gift certificates and Media Camp tuition.
First place winners were: Mike Martel, Thornton Academy, 30-second spot; Ian Anderson, Thornton Academy, 60-second spot; Garret Harris, Hancock County Technical Center, three-minute mini-documentary; Philip McGowan, Erzabeth Fekete and Joey Charles, Messalonskee High School, group project for a three-minute mini-documentary.
Other winners recognized were: 30-second spot, Heather Nanartowich, Sanford Regional Vocational Center, second place; Derek Cole, Hancock County Technical Center, third place; 60-second spot, Melissa Small, Thornton Academy, second place; Amber Griffin, Pleasanton Public School, Kearney, Neb., third place.
Also, individual documentary, Declan Murphy, Mount Desert High School, second place; Justin Chenette, Thornton Academy, third place; group project, Kaitlyn Emmons and Julia Sidelinger, Messalonskee High School, second place; Andrew Leeman and Alisa Gibeault, Hancock County Technical Center, third place.
Forty-five entries were submitted. Hancock County Technical Center received the NESCIE, an award given to a school with the most participation and best quality of video.
