HERMON – The owner of ServiceMaster Contract Services was named this year’s National Federation of Independent Business small-business champion for Maine.

Harrison Clark was selected by the Maine NFIB leadership council based on his dedication to promoting small business in the state, his community activism and his personal success as a small-business owner, David Clough, state director for NFIB, said.

“Harrison stands up as a beacon for things that can be accomplished,” Clough said. “It’s great to recognize him and present him with that award. He is one of many that is daily trying to make Maine a great state.”

NFIB is a national nonprofit small-business advocacy group that works to affect public policy at the state and federal levels to benefit Main Street businesses.

Clark, the owner of the cleaning service, has been a member of the NFIB for 22 years and is a member of the leadership council, but was excluded from this year’s decision-making to remain fair.

Clark is particularly active in health care issues in the state and advocates to make health insurance affordable for everyone.

“I knew I was under discussion, but I’m not in it for the recognition,” Clark said. “I do it because it’s an important thing to do.”
