CARIBOU – Pines Health Services received a $5,000 donation from the Jefferson Cary Foundation, a nonprofit organization that raises funds to improve health care services in Aroostook County.
The donation will be used to purchase special technology that will allow doctors in Caribou to communicate with doctors in Portland and provide patients, who normally travel to Portland to receive substance abuse treatment and counseling, with follow-up care locally.
The service, which is expected to begin within the next 30 days, will be available at Pines Center for Women and Children’s Health at Cary Medical Center campus.
For more information, contact Pines Health Services at 498-2356 or 1-800-371-6240. To receive initial treatment for substance abuse problems, contact the Aroostook Mental Health Center at 498-6431 or the 24-hour hot line at 1-800-432-7805.
