BLUE HILL – Three people avoided serious injury Friday afternoon after a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Route 15 and Beech Hill Road flipped one of the cars on its side.
A silver Volkswagen driven by Julie Alley, 39, of Stonington was traveling south on Route 15. Another vehicle, a red Subaru, was stopped at the intersection and tried to go straight, continuing on Beech Hill Road. The driver, Lynn Braswell, 64, of New York, didn’t see the Volkswagen coming and the cars collided, according to Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Lepper.
The Subaru connected with the passenger side of Alley’s Volkswagen and the impact caused the Subaru to flip over on its side. Lepper said he was in Blue Hill when the accident call came in and he responded quickly.
“They were basically crawling out of the car when I got there,” he said.
Alley and Braswell both were taken to Blue Hill Memorial Hospital and treated for injuries, but neither was seriously hurt, Lepper said. A male passenger in Braswell’s vehicle was not injured.
All three were wearing seat belts, Lepper said. Both cars suffered substantial damage.
